April 29, 200817 yr In light of the whole Toyota Tacoma massive buyback by Toyota..... Let's say you come across someone who does not know of this event and is selling their Tacoma for fairly cheap. You buy it and in turn, sell it to Toyota for more than what you paid. I wonder.... Would it be worth it? Just a thought. Nothing more.
April 29, 200817 yr My friend and I devised a similar scheme where we would get a loan, buy a small fleet of beater Tacomas affected by the recall and would require the extremes Toyota had put into place, then sell all of the trucks back to Toyota, gaining enough money to pay off the loan and making a nice profit in the process. It is tempting.
April 30, 200817 yr Are they buying them back outright, or are they giving outlandishly high trade-in values on new Toyota trucks?
April 30, 200817 yr Are they buying them back outright, or are they giving outlandishly high trade-in values on new Toyota trucks? The former... 150% of the truck's value in "excellent" Blue Book condition, plus paying for a rental car. But that is assuming you actually own the truck.. Edited April 30, 200817 yr by empowah
April 30, 200817 yr You guys know I have a low opinion of Toyota, but they aren't stupid! They picked a date to announce all of this and you have to have owned the rustbucket in question on that date or before to qualify for the buyout.
April 30, 200817 yr It'd be more fun to buy one, and take bets on how much you can throw in the bed before it collapses on itself.
April 30, 200817 yr It'd be really fun to buy one that is partially collapsed, but still drivable, and emblazon it with stickers, calling as much attention as possible to it until it finally falls in half in a very public way.

April 30, 200817 yr Where's that pic of the blue one that split in half? We could all use it as our sigs for a week or two.
April 30, 200817 yr Where's that pic of the blue one that split in half? We could all use it as our sigs for a week or two. I had gotten bored, and I have been trying to put PS 7.0 to use ... and now I am a little stumped as to finding a good tag line. Suggestions anyone?
April 30, 200817 yr Moving forward... err backward... errr several directions at once no. Toyota quality - it's skin deep.
April 30, 200817 yr Keep the suggestions coming. I am having a hard time making a choice. They are all good.
April 30, 200817 yr "Brokeback Toyota. Need to endure a long, hard ride? Toyota can't!" :rotflmao: You know what? I will just make one of each tag line. I can't choose. They are all great. I am laughing my ass off at Joe's. That is gold. But, still, keep the suggestions coming on in!
April 30, 200817 yr This one should read "N/A" instead of "Optional". Forgot to read the dealer spec sheet. My apologies.
April 30, 200817 yr Tokyo, April 30, 2008: "Toyota announces it's best-ever innovation in compact pickups: every Tacoma built now comes with a class-exclusive dump body. Need to haul mulch for that spring spruce-up around the house? Don't feel like shoveling it out of your current compact truck? Tacoma has you covered, and with our unique cab mount system (inspired by new European pedestrian safety regulations), Tacoma drivers have the visibility to see the road an incredible 12 inches in front of the driver's seat, that's unprecedented in the compact truck field. Toyota - Moving Forward."
