August 26, 200817 yr Around here its about $3.55 or so. I honestly thought it would go to $5.00 or more by this time of year.
August 28, 200817 yr Before I left for Europe last week, I payed 3.69 for 93 octane. 91 octane is barely hitting the low $4's around here...
August 31, 200817 yr Oil companies are already shutting down rigs in the Gulf in anticipation of Gustav (yep, definately need more offshore drilling) so expect prices to jump, even if the storm doesn't actually hit any of the rigs. $4.10 for the national average within the next week, just my guess.
October 3, 200817 yr $2.99 yesterday, although a few friends said that it was $2.94 at a couple stations.
October 4, 200817 yr $3.35 is the cheapest I've seen around my way recently. Poor DC... still in the $3.80s...
October 4, 200817 yr We're back up to $4.00+ here because of the damn shortage. I sat in line for 40 minutes the other day. Edited October 4, 200817 yr by FUTURE_OF_GM
October 4, 200817 yr We're back up to $4.00+ here because of the damn shortage. I sat in line for 40 minutes the other day. Yeah, my mom was telling me about how her folks down in central GA may be without gas also. Seriously, why the shortage down there and not the much denser Northeast?
October 4, 200817 yr Tis indeed $2.94 everywhere now, but oddly, diesel seems to have gone up. It went from $3.45 last week to $3.55 yesterday.
October 4, 200817 yr Tis indeed $2.94 everywhere now, but oddly, diesel seems to have gone up. It went from $3.45 last week to $3.55 yesterday. Wow... we're a little higher out here. $3.61 for regular and $4.49 for diesel.
October 4, 200817 yr 3.19 you had to know it was going to cheapen before the election Making it slightly more cost-effective for the unemployed to search for work until the Depression or Civil WarII starts.
October 4, 200817 yr Of course, the Republicans think Americans are stupid, let's lower the gas price and they will vote for us and forget about how high it was in the past. Not!
October 4, 200817 yr Making it slightly more cost-effective for the unemployed to search for work until the Depression or Civil WarII starts. LMFAO... Right you are!
October 5, 200817 yr >>"Of course, the Republicans think Americans are stupid, let's lower the gas price and they will vote for us and forget about how high it was in the past. Not!"<< So you think it's Republicans that have lowered the price of fuel ?? Care to explain how they did it ?
October 5, 200817 yr >>"Of course, the Republicans think Americans are stupid, let's lower the gas price and they will vote for us and forget about how high it was in the past. Not!"<< So you think it's Republicans that have lowered the price of fuel ?? Care to explain how they did it ? balthy: It's just more typical socialist left-of-liberal baloney.
October 5, 200817 yr Oh, I know, and the media stumbles right along after, never questioning anything. 'Bush's Republican fatcat oil buddies were raking it in, but now W's dialing it back so another R can get in.' Yup, up, evil-incarnate George Bush, controlling things impossibly far outside his influence somehow, even tho he's so mind-numbingly stupid he can't pronounce 'nuclear'. Makes complete sense, right? Gotta love how the libs never let a glaring lack of logic or raging hypocrisy hold them back !
October 5, 200817 yr Gotta love how the libs never let a glaring lack of logic or raging hypocrisy hold them back ! Yup. My perspective is even more ironic. After all I was born and lived the first eight years of my life in a communist (CCCP-controlled) country. You guys had the Pledge of Allegiance and a painting of G. Washington on the wall in your 1st grade classroom, we had a bunch of Socialist Lies thrown at us every day and a doctored, colorized photo of Lenin on the wall. I despise communism, socialism, liberalism & any other (even if milder) form of that hellish "system" of government. Thank God my parents & relatives were smart enough to subvert the brain-washing I was receiving in school. By third grade I was already learning Russian in school.
October 5, 200817 yr P.S. Not that I have anything against Russian-Americans. Justt for the record since we both know a few.
October 5, 200817 yr 3.39 here.... just got to that here. when it should be under 3 like other parts of the state...Satty. a town over it's, maybe .10 cheaper
October 7, 200817 yr $2.85 everywhere now, dropping just in time for everyone to be unemployed. Wow, I apparently work on the wrong side of town, Gas Buddy has $2.76 for most places, with a few at $2.79. Edited October 7, 200817 yr by Satty
October 8, 200817 yr We're down to $3.19 in Brookville... I can't wait for it to drop below $3 a gallon.
October 8, 200817 yr I paid $3.35 yesterday. I hope it goes back down to around $2.59 a gallon or below and stays there.
October 9, 200817 yr Still hovering around $3.50 here in Charlotte. Still hovering at about $3.50 back in Asheville too. Edited October 9, 200817 yr by FUTURE_OF_GM
October 9, 200817 yr There's a Chevron station near by grandma's house where diesel is $3.69/gal. Makes getting a Jetta TDI a no brainer. But then of course, the station near my house charges $4.49/gal.
October 10, 200817 yr Dropped another 10 cents to $3.09. At this rate, it'll be $2.95 by the weekend.
October 10, 200817 yr Looks like it's high time I get my @ss in gear and find a cheap, classic 455-powered Pontiac for a (dry-weather) daily driver.
October 10, 200817 yr $2.61 this afternoon, its been dropping like a rock. I hate you..and your gas prices too. not that i buy gas often (~3weeks), but it's just still way too high over here, i blame the traffic from Illinois....we get tons of business from it, but it keeps our demand high, i guess.
October 10, 200817 yr Thats ok, we make up for lower gas prices by having poorly timed stop lights every 200 feet and such poorly designed road routes that it takes me 40 minutes to get from work to my son's daycare in the afternoon, its an 18 mile trip, 12 of which is on a 4-lane highway. Also, local drivers suck.
October 10, 200817 yr Gas is $3.14 now. Not as big of a deal to fill the 2 cars if they get down a little. They should be around $2.00 if my calculations are correct based on how much other stuff has went up.
October 10, 200817 yr i'm thinking gas prices will level off around $2.90 average as OPEC cuts production to maintain prices.
October 10, 200817 yr It's $3.09 per gallon now. I'm going to keep hoping that we see prices of maybe $2.09 a gallon by next year. How nice would that be?
October 11, 200817 yr So who are McCain's "oil buddies", would they just get handed off from Bush come Jan?? $2.88 today for 87, drops every day.
