The wagon is $1,500 more than the sedan, so the TDI sedan should be ~$21,990. It's slightly smaller than a Camry Hybrid, but for highway driving, it's worth a look.

The TDI trim is equivalent to the SE model, so it's already well-equipped (leatherette, alloys, trip computer). The only options are rear side airbags, iPod adapter, 17" wheels, panorama roof, and nav.

So another change for the '09 Jetta is that the SEL trim will get the 2.0T engine... :scratchchin:

I'm gonna have to disagree with the "quality" part of that sentence. German-built VWs seem to be OK, but most of our Mexican-built ones (including the Jetta) tend to self-destruct prematurely.

Powertrains (especially the diesels) are usually fine. It's the rest of the car that falls behind...

Yes, and incidentially, I think the Jetta will be the only C-segment wagon (estate) sold in the US this year... (not counting the strange tall wagons like the HHR, Vibe,Matrix, or Rondo)

Anyone else see an easy opportunity? Ford used to have the Focus wagon here, but that recently disappeared.

Maybe Saturn can capitalize with a version of the Astra wagon.

Ford dropping the Focus wagon and hatchbacks was a mistake, IMHO. Very short-sighted of them..

I disagree with you ... the mk4 Golf/Jetta certainly got a bad rap, but the mk5 is a vastly improved machine in practically every respect.
