June 17, 200817 yr Remember this Cadillac concept?...I see so many of it's elements in today's Cadillacs and yet I never warmed to this design. The 2000 Cadillac Imaj:
June 17, 200817 yr It was a quite interesting concept car, it also served as the forerunner to the original Cadillac STS design before Lutz ordered the design to be overhauled.
June 17, 200817 yr I like the front- the surfaces planes, the subtle creasing, the stacked headlights. Looks both expensive & hi-tech. Rear is OK- pretty tall (and I wish Caddy would drop the CHMSL/spoiler- I hate it) Profile kills it for me: too wagonish.
June 17, 200817 yr In retrospect, maybe the original STS design would have been more successful than that actual bland production version. With a few tweaks, the Imaj concept could have been a stunner instead of looking awkward.
June 17, 200817 yr I love this concept, although I see Blathy's point about the Dodge Magnum-esque profile. As far as the LED CHiMSL, I like them but think they should be more subtle and they should be incorporated into the boot as the V base for the Cadillac emblem, never did like the crests, the V-logos are where it's at.... sexy & classy.

The original design was probably in the same vein as the CTS (ie bold and new), but Lutz went on the record as saying he would never have approved the original CTS and then proceeded to take all the life out of the STS.
June 17, 200817 yr This was my favorite GM concept back in the day. So sexy, and the rear always reminded me of my favorite 80s all-new design: the bustleback 1980 Seville.
June 17, 200817 yr We need a modern day bustleback. I mean a lot less subtle than this, like a REAL bustleback.
June 18, 200817 yr Author Did anyone here ever see it in the flesh?.....probably is quite striking. And where is it now?
June 18, 200817 yr I don't find the Imaj to resemble the Magnum- which is a low, level wagon (about the slickest I've seen)... the Imaj is more like a whale cresting the surface of the water...
June 18, 200817 yr what about the Evoq and Cien? they kind of pointed the way to The Evoq, as we know, became the XLR. The Cien was nothing more than a "what if?" sort of question answered. Another now obscure Cadillac concept car from the Art and Science era was, of course, the Vizon, which was the precursor to the SRX.
