June 22, 200817 yr I just heard this one online... It's pretty nice. The song is "Grandma Drove a Buick" by Jill King. It was the age of Harvest Gold and Avocado Green; Push-Button Radios, Plastic Covered Leather Seats Dust rising off a gravel road, no seatbelts; five years old; Like I was riding in a great big boat, into town, Here we go. We turned the corner onto Shackleberry Avenue; Like Moses parting the water everybody moves; I never understood it, but everybody knew that; Grandma drove a Buick. And at the age of seventeen waiting for a ride home from school; Don’t want to leave, no I want to be with all my friends, I thought were cool; I was embarrassed to be seen with someone as old as history; I want to die, I want to scream, but here she comes riding down the street. She turned the corner onto Shackleberry Avenue; Like Moses parting the water everybody moves; I never understood it, but everybody knew that; Grandma drove a Buick. Now I’m Sitting in the driver’s seat, taking the wheel where her hands used to be; And all those memories flooding over me are painted Harvest Gold and Avocado Green; A line of cars start their engines off to the place where she will be resting; I turn on the lights, put it into drive, I’m at the head of her procession We turned the corner onto Shackleberry Avenue; Like Moses parting the water everybody moves; Puling off to the side, they’re all waving goodbye; Now I understand why everybody knew; That I was driving Grandma’s Buick It was the Age of Harvest Gold and Avocado Green.
June 22, 200817 yr Should I post the lyrics to a song called "So What"? J/K - It's funny to see that Buick was grandma's car. How old is that song? Edited June 22, 200817 yr by ZL-1
June 23, 200817 yr Nifty! Buick was my grandma's car too (A Skyhawk) And then it was my, a 16 year old's, first car too. I like that crazy "Love Shack" song because of the "I got me a Chrysler; It's a big as a whale And it's about to set Sail!"
