July 31, 200817 yr Someone talented should take that Malibu chop and do a "Fleet'em All" version of Metallica's "Kill'em All" cover just for fun Edited July 31, 200817 yr by ZL-1
July 31, 200817 yr Of course they may have decided to only build the Pontiac version, since the Epsilon 1.5 Malibu is still fresh.
August 1, 200817 yr As long as it is rebadge with lots of new panels etc I honestly have no problem. Unfortunately as it was earlier said it's gonna be a Cobalt/G5 rebadge.
August 1, 200817 yr And I thought the g6 was going to die? And be replaced by a few smaller cars.... The G6 is hurting here....even when everyone is buying cars....
August 2, 200817 yr Unfortunately as it was earlier said it's gonna be a Cobalt/G5 rebadge. God I really hope not. I doubt GM would be that stupid. Do we know this to be fact? Or is this speculation. I do not believe GM is ready to throw the rag in at Pontiac. I would be it would be a platform mate with some things similar but a different car. If GM does a cheap rebadge that would be a HUGE mistake. It is okay on a lower volume vehicle like the Torrent not on a bread and butter sedan that sells over 100k a year. I know GM is stupid but not that stupid.
August 2, 200817 yr I don't think the G6 sales would drop if the next generation were a Malibu with a Pontiac grill. The 1986 to 1991 Grand Am had the same body as its platform mates (Calais, Skylark) with a Pontiac grill and sold very well. I don't think the G5 would sell any better if it were radically different from the Cobalt. I don't care for the current G6, and a Malibu rebadge would look better to my eyes.
August 3, 200817 yr For fleets, they could take the previous gen Malibu and badge it as a 'GM Generica'.
August 5, 200817 yr I'd rather they just stopped marketing the Pontiac name than make the g5 and g6 replacements straight Chevy rebadges.
August 5, 200817 yr That would be even stupider. I did my rebadge as a joke and I thought I could improve on the one that was done for effect.

I'd have to agree with some of that... Much of it depends on the look though....and people have changed quite a bir since the 80s too....
