Well here it is on ebay. If I had a some extra money and wasn't sending a kid of to school and it wasn't so far away I might look at it. I hope someone on here can give this puppy the love that this thing needs at a great price. It has a 307 and is in nearly mint condition and has a factory Snow Flake rims. One car I would have in a collection indeed at a steal of a price.

1981 Pontiac Bonneville Coupe

This one is pretty close to me.... why-O-why couldn't it be a '58 ???

Brings back memories of Ol' Faithful- the family's '77 Catalina Safari - different gen body but same basic dash.

It's far too new, and pillow-tuffed velour upholstery just doesn't do it for me. Also not nuts to see an Olds motor in there (not that Pontiac had much better to offer by '81.... tho a Turbo 301 would slip right in). I'll have to pass.

I love the sporty, yet luxurious look of the '80-'81 Fullsize Pontiacs. I'd love to have a Bonneville with snowflakes and no vinyl top.

I didn't know what you meant by "snowflakes" until I saw the picture; I remember those. A Pontiac exclusive, right?

The price is a bit high, IMO. And, the snowflakes have T/A wheelcenters - I'd bet this car did not come with them from the factory.

Why is it that I always remember these cars in a bright metallic green?

Yes, lots of them in greens and browns. I dated a girl in high school that drove an '81 Bonneville Brougham--4dr, silver blue, dark blue top and interior, had the traditional Pontiac mags..

Yup, wildcat, a Pontiac exclusive, those awesome snowflakes. Oh, ok Camino, well I didn't look that close, but I do know they were an option on the B-bodies at the time.

I remember them on these cars, but I think they got an Arrowhead centercap.

Here's an idear: '81 Bonneville coupe, sans vinyl top and fender skirts. Black in color. Gold pinstriping. Trans Am shaker hood, concealing a 400. Snowflakes. Lowered, buttoned-down suspension. Rare, factory bucket seat/console interior, in tan velour. TH400 transmission, beefed posi rear. Wow... I think that'd be hot. I always loved a bad-ass B-body... a real rocket sled.

Nice recipe, Ocn!

God I just want to spend all my time building such things...

Wonder if I could ever make a living doing so?

Phantoms have always intrigued me.

I am full of ideas for A/G bodies '78-'88 and B-C-D bodies '77-'96. Even the unloved fastback '78-'79 Buick Century coupe with a built turbo 3.8.

Oh yeah... definitely cool. I've always want to build an '78 Impala SS coupe. Buckets seats, F41 suspension, Rally wheels, etc.

Maybe a GM equivalent of XV Motorsports...

Those '77-'79 Chevy B-body coupes with the bent back glass were so handsome, and sized better than their ancestors for such a project as you suggest. Cool!

One of my "Phantom" recipes for the future:

- import wrecked Holden sportwagon as "salvage parts"

- buy a salvage G8 ST

- engage torch

Result: one-off Pontiac Shooting Brake. :neenerneener:

Nice... great example of a modern Pontiac.

Not my cup of tea as it is way too new and

I've outgrown the '80s GM cheeseballs, but

it does have great MPG potential with the

307 Rocket motor, as unoriginal as that is.

I'd love to pick up a Pontiac sometime in

the near future but it would have to be

either a 4dr/2dr hardtop or, cooler still a

pre-war variety Tin Indian.

Now THESE are four Pontiacs I'm currently lusting after, my wallpaper at home.

Its like the 2-door version of mine. Mine is the same color inside and out. Mine has the wire hubcaps and the regular seats not the pillow seats. As for the 307 engine, I am told by quite a few people that it is a better motor than what Pontiac had at the time. Mine doesnt burn a drop of oil. It leaks VERY little through the left valve cover.
