supposedly the d's and r's were to busy to fill out the paper work to be on the ballot, for president.

while the lounge rule #2 is being discussed by admins...try to stay objective.

my comment. if it stays this way... this will only be bad for d's and r's

if this changes, just showing the laxness this culture has become with rules/laws.

otherwise this might just shake up the political atmosphere in a good way.

If thats what the ballot looks like in November, we're in for quite a ride, since neither major party candidate is an eligible write-in, Texas' electoral votes would go to Barr almost by default.

According to the SOS website, today is the filing deadline for the November election.

Edit: Actually, yesterday, the 26th.

Edited edit:Link to dates page.

Uhm, up until today Obama was the presumptive nominee. McCain still is a presumptive.

are you implying they have...a pass?

I'm SURE it will be adjusted. If McCain doesn't/can't win Texas, the race is over now.

that is a good chance, but polls have not shown a post veep jump.

I didn't see any article or anything accopanying this. Just the table on the Texas' SOS website.

So...are you sure the parties haven't already done the paperwork and the website just has not been updated yet? Or maybe they're holding out until after the conventions to make it seem "official"?

I wasn't commenting on who was going to win... I was simply adding up the electoral votes if McCain can't get Texas due to a FUBAR like this.

it's very possible, but if they don't show up by sept, i would think they were late....?

but also, you would think that if what was needed was given to the proper place, it should show up quickly...and since only if something happens before nov, would their names have to be changed, or however that works.

Wierd. I'm sure it's just that the website hasn't been updated.. if the 2 main party candidates weren't going to be on the ballot in the 3rd (4th?) largest state, it would be all over the national media by now....

Just stumbled upon something similar from 2004. Bush wasn't officially the candidate before the deadline to get on the ballot in Alabama, yet he won the state by 26%. So this is, indeed, nothing.
