Well, I Have a Problem...

Featured Replies

...And I also have a problem with my GA. The fuel door will not open. Pull the lever and nothing happens. I can't find out what's wrong with it. I don't want to have to open it manually against its will... but I'm down to less than 1/8th of a tank of gas...
Satty's probably right. My father's 97 Skylark, your GA's kissing cousing, has the cable-activated fuel-filler door release. The car is 10 years old, so it's probably seized. I guess the right thing to do would be to just replace the cable. It shouldn't be too expensive but it'll be a PITA to put in. If you need to put gas into hte car before you can replace the cable, I'd probably try locating the cable underneath the car, near where the fuel door is, strip off a piece of the insulation, and pull it and see if the door opens.
It should have some sort of manual release inside the trunk trim on the side of the fuel door.

Luckily the cable hasn't snapped. That is what I thought happened...

However, I asked for advice over at the GAOC and a member said it may be that it just got stuck and to have someone pull the lever while I pry it open. Did that and it opened. I also bent the loop in a bit so it won't happen again. Hasn't yet and I refilled it. :D

So, thanks for the advice anyways... And Ocnblu, I'll have to look for that. ;)
