In a chaotic world sometimes gone mad, do you ever have those moments of just simple contentment?

This morning, had breakfast in bed, it's quiet except for some roots type music, softly playing on CKUA.com online, laptop on my lap.

Brand new sheets and pillows, got more premium, so worth it. I highly recommend treating yourselves to simple things like this. I think I'm actually sleeping better.

Nothing planned today..

Ahhh...I'm feeling everything is going to be ok.

Another sip of coffee...coffee02ne8.gifmmm.

pure contentment...

As I get older, 39 now, it seems like yesterday I was just 19. I feel like I blinked my eyes and 20 years went by. With that in mind, I do more things with my family, I take time to smell the flowers along the way, because I know I will blink my eyes again and I will be 59, another 20 years gone. Kind of scary when you think about it.

I revel in the chaotic and the mad, I prefer to dig deep, lacing my fingers thru the very roots of insanity and locking on tight, teeth clenched. Ah-ha, hoo-hoo.

For relaxation, I chew ice cubes.

When I'm home, I love lazy Sunday mornings... brew up some coffee, curl up in a comfy chair, read the New York Times online, with a warm terrier in my lap, listening to some jazz or atmospheric Brian Eno on the surround sound...later, take a swim then make an omlette for brunch.

The work week can be so intense, with it's ups and downs, cubicle life, etc... jumping into a new contract 1 week from now, so I'm enjoying a little down time right now.

The times I deeply enjoy are those like this holiday weekend, spending time in Ohio w/ my Mom and brother whom I don't see often enough...enjoyed getting my Mustangs out for a fast drive on the incredible backroads of Ohio yesterday and this morning... headed over tomorrow to Dayton to visit w/ my sister then fly back to Phoenix tomorrow night..

I'm going back to Denver for a weekend at the end of Sept, I need to spend some time with my closest friends...a lunch, a quiet dinner, just hanging out at a coffee shop...important moments in a hectic life.

What I'm finding more and more is there is an almost hidden world of just pure simple enjoyment in life. And I don't mean in an austere, Quaker ideal...just stopping for a moment and enjoy the given moment. And not always looking for the big, flashy experience.

You are right, time is quite fleeting. Enjoy today, the now.

Masturbating in the shower is the simplest pleasure life has to offer.

That is totally me new motto.

Home-made matzoh ball soup, entirely from scratch. Nothing better than that.

Interesting that "ball soup" would be mentioned in the same thread as "masturbation". Coincidence? You decide.

Now, you know how to live...

A nice black cup of coffee in the morning, and a nice bit of kush to help wind down in the evening euphorically. There is always room for masturbation in there too.

at the end of a tough day, I collapse into my overstuffed fabric chair, enjoy a much needed Earl Grey, and read biographies and historical accounts...
