September 8, 200817 yr Author Oh agreed, I've already done some considerable floor repair to the RoadmOnster w/ a friend's help; (he owns the welder) This thing is ugly as sin, what a gross car, even for M.Y. 1974 it's pretty hideous, but I do love the hardtop body style, inline six motor and the indestructibility of these kraut-wagens. I'm just unsure weather I want to get involved w/ yet another project right now, I NEED to give the B-59 the attention it needs, and this is yet another distraction. Don't get me wrong, I find it hard to pass up decent cars for $500 or so, but the 59 is a worthy car, and since there is already a Mercedes hardtop in the equation.........???

More and more I'm having a hard time justifying non-hardtops... there's so many reasons why it's worth it to hold out for hardtop. and for $3500 I'd be buying another 1959 Buick or a pre-war car, not some 1970s colonade sausage-on-wheels.

So is there like an express line at the DMV you use? They must know you on a first name basis--you are through there what, every two weeks? September 11, 200817 yr Author Honestly..... with Amelia about to arrive ANY second, Julie is due Nov. 7th but doctors have said all along that she'll probably be 4-6 weeks early, so I should just keep my ugly, beat-up but reliable and safe RoadmOnster and stop flipping cars for at least the rest of 2008... ....but then again,old habits die hard!

Chris Yeah, some friends of mine had twins a couple of years ago..they were about 8 weeks early, IIRC...they spent 2 months in the neonatal ICU...was a difficult time for all involved.
September 12, 200817 yr Author Julie is about 7.5 months along, so even if Amelia surprises us with hergrand entrance tomorrow, she SHOULD be okay. But I hear you guys, a buddy I used to work with at Bill DeLuca Chevrolet had a son born FOUR months premature, in this little tykes first 24 hours he went through $150,000 i medial bills, and I think that was without the air-ambulance (chopper) to Boston. Even my wife, ex (Sofia's mom), my parents, my father-in-law & mother-in-law have come to terms with the fact that the likely scenario is that I'll be daily driving a PRE-WAR car next summer, and the B-59 will be my "modern backup" while some P.O.S. truck or maybe the Roadm0nster will sere as a winter-beater and Julie will have her Mercedes, although I am planning to install an HD/MP3 ready in-dash CD-player... so she does not feel like she is missing out on new car novelties.

Things haven't been good here, for sure. I miss a lot of people...sad, really. Maybe the newer car you can save for is a 39 Lasalle, which will be newer than Oldsmoboi's model "A"? Seriously, I used to be just like you, only with houses. I lived in a Craftsman Style bunga low, and the newest thing in the house was built in 1915, swore I would never buy a newer house. But I realized I needed a better neighborhood and a school district, so we built a new four bedroom house 7 or 8 years ago and have lived there since. Next house I am going to build is going to be a re-creation of a Craftsman Style bungalow with all of the "issues" of the previous house fixed. Great pic of Sofia BTW, reminds me of when my daughter Joanna was 4 and riding in my 55 Chevy... Good luck with whatever you do, sixty eight. Chris
September 15, 200817 yr Author Thanks S66. Te Proctor House, where I lived in 2006 & 2007, with the HUGE barn, was built in 1785, one the oldest houses in historical Chelmsford, MA. Beat that. And back in Slovakia out town was as old as dirt, the Church was REVNOVATED in the 13th century! The '39 LaSalle is abut 2-years too-new but still a fantastic car. I think the magic spot for GM pre-wars is 1933-1937.

September 16, 200817 yr I can relate to the prewar car lust, 68. I am thinking a V-8 Ford or a Stoveboltn 6 Chevy may very well be in my future. But I want it stock and original, if possible. I could handle a street rod but... I really want say a 36 Ford so bad I can't stand it. Chris
September 20, 200817 yr Author I just had an opportunity to check out a nice '37 Ford 2dr up close. 1. bad news: it had its flathead replaced by a modern SBC 350. 2. good news: the guy has driven it 107,000 miles since the engine swap, shortly after he bought it 15 years ago!
