Lol we had 2 '87 Ciera's in my family, both with the 2.8 liter motor. Both were reliable and comfortable cars.

Over 179,000 miles and still starts and runs smoothly.

I'd never pay $3000 for it, but it's something I've never seen or even heard about.

I guess it's worthy of saving being an Olds & all....

I've seen a Ciera convertible in Florida years ago, bright red w/ white interior...and IIRC, there was one on TV in the mid '80s..maybe the woman in A-Team drove one or something.. I remember one.

A google turned up this one for sale for $9999.

For my $10k I'd put it as a down payment on a 335i hardtop convertible.. I'm still hoping the Camaro SS convertible will be out in a couple years..

P.S As the owner of an 85 Ciera, they arn't crappy cars, I just took mine on a 300 mile trip a few months back, very comfortable, no issues, and very good fuel economy. And who could hate that shag carpet!

I just noticed while looking at it again, the picture of the rear seat, if you look closely there is the Rocket emblem up the middle of the seat.

Shockingly attractive for a mid-80s convertible. And definitely rare.

Reminds me of the '88 Cutlass Ciera XC we took in on trade that I subsequently sold to my friend for $400.

The Ebay ad clearly states the car was a two door then cut up "for Oldsmobile" at an outside facility.

As far as a "factory" car- it should be considered a 2 door hardtop that has been cut up and turned into a convertible by others.....

Yes, the Olds-sanctioned conversion was not bought by very many people.

It just looks strange to me...

I do like the Cieras from that time...a black 2 door was almost my first car....

Oldsmobile could "sanction" ANY car customizer to do ANYTHING to ANY car.

It's not a "production" car though. It's a 2 door Coupe that has been CONVERTED to a convertible by a company called Car Craft.

It's great as a curiosity, but it's not a "rare car" by factory production numbers, because it didn't exist as a factory production car.

Watch the bidding, Oldsmobile collectors know their Oldsmobiles, inside and out IMO....

Here, it is properly called a "coach convertible", and I don't think the car is a "one of one" as claimed, not according to Wikipedia anyways........

I looked it up on Wikipedia, the coach convertibles were what the factory coupe conversions were called, and there were actually quite a few of the Olds Cieras by their posted build numbers.....

More than I would thought for sure.
