Pontiac ’s roomy new 2006 G6 coupe already has the looks and performance of a competition-inspired machine, so it doesn’t take much to boost the excitement factor. GM Performance Division built the G6 Performance Coupe to showcase how wild the 2+2 coupe could be with replacement body parts. Those parts include new front and rear fascias, new rocker panels and a large rear deck wing. Forgeline 19-inch wheels and racing-inspired Wilwood brakes complete the functional/stylistic additions.

Vehicle Highlights:

270-hp 3.9L V-6
6-speed manual transmission
New front/rear fascias and rocker panels
Body kit
New hood with scoops
Large rear deck wing
19-inch Forgeline wheels
Wilwood disc brakes
Driving lights
Leather-trimmed interior with contrasting stitching, including instrument panel, insert panels and rear quarter panels
Painted console trim bezels
Special door sill plates
Performance exhaust tips

Blah.. it would have looked better if they didnt't have a grill at all.
As I said... Ugh. The grill, the wheels, and the spoiler all suck. The only good things about it are the hood scoops, ground effects, lower front fascia, and the rear fascia...
The ground effects are cool but that's about it. The grille looks out of proportion and the scoops, spoiler and rims are tacky/rice-ish.
The grille and spoiler are disgusting. Everything else is great.
The side profile shot screams Scion TC to me....
wing is horrible, but will be interesting if they tell how they got 270HP out of it....3valves? hope so and hope they bring those out for late 06 or 07 models...that'd be great
(hands on hips, tapping foot...)

You guys had to have a wing, didn't you? (vomit smiley.)

I don't like the rims. The headlights should have been darkened. The rear fascia is ugly. But the WING IS HIDEOUS and totally destroys a beautifully clean, sexy Pontiac.
:( <_<

Yes, but I wasn't expecting that... Appearantly Pontiac has forgotten how to design spoilers...
Yikes. That grille is out of control enormous and that spoiler is big enough to file for it's own zip code. On the flipside, I LOVE what they've done with the rear bumper. Very sexy.
Whoa, hell! Is the grille melting? (I actually sort of like it, though...)

It looks like a G6 and a 2002 Trans Am mated and thats what came out.........I dunno if this will grow on me and I start to like it more but only thing I like on it is the rims...... Also who says pushrods can't make power...........270hp out of ancient technology aint bad if you ask me.........

Looks like they forgot how to design a grille too. I really wish I hadnt seen that picture. Are they trying to make people hate Pontiac just so they can kill the brand?
The G6 Coupe has a lot of potential, but taken together, these changes look comical. The fascia looks good except for the exaggerated grille. The wheels, side skirts, and rear bumper are ok.
I'm soory that car is freaking hot and the grill is so cool. Now that is what a Pontiac should look like. No guts no glory that is why the imports step over GM right now.
Hehe, yeah, I guess they're trying to get people to imitate the car at first glimpse.
I just test drove a GTP Coupe this weekend. WOW was it a sweet ride.
As for me this is not a car I would buy, but it would sell in great numbers if price well. The only thing I would change is the grills. The rest is the look that is making up the import market. Too under swtand the spoiler, wheels and FX one just need to open the pages of one of the import tuner magazines and see where they are coming from. I am just so greatful they left off all the cheesey graphic's people load on tuner car's. Too few let the styling work and rely on graphic's.

That grille = Posted Image

I remember reading an article where Bob Lutz changed a pontiac grille because the engineers were calling the car Alvin. Maybe this is that grille that he changed for looking too much like a chipmunk's buck teeth?

Other than that, it looks pretty sweet!

Looks almost like they're trying to build a FWD version of this:

I was going to post the same thing. Especially after I saw this shot. I had to do a double take to make sure it was really a G6.

Love the hood, love the grille and the lower intakes BUT the headlights make it look too "bucky" I also like the rear, eventhough the height of the tailights make it look to tall as well. AND, I hate the gawdaweful wing.
Okay... I'm doing a chop of this... I just can't stand that grill and that spoiler...

well ill say this that grill looks almost exactly like my red pontiac GTO chop from the old site and i love it...i dont like the wing...nooo way thats ugly, ans i think that they call them taillights cuz they are on the back....not coming up the side ...i hate that

def an amazing hot looking car but i think that the facia maaay be a little busy but i havent really decided

aactually i looked at it again and it looks kiiinda like a tiburan on american steriods

heres my old chop BTW but i like the grill on this G6 better

I like everything except the grille and the whale-tail. I would have gotten blacked-out eadlight bezels like the open-air Cobalt had. I want those lights.
The rear bumper treatment is very sexy; if Pontiac got rid of the lip on the lid and just smoothed things out, the rear would flow nad the bumper would complement it perfectly.
Why can't we get a 270hp version of the 3.9L now?

Why can't we get a 270hp version of the 3.9L now?

Because fuel econmy would be like 18/24... Seriously... :P
