For once, I'm not going to completely bash Chrysler, just going to bitch for a minute. I want a Wrangler, have for years, I've been going through all the scenarios that will permit me to buy a new one next spring, and weighing possible other purchases, the FJ Cruiser when talking new, and a number of small, convertible SUVs when talking used. An Amigo would be my first choice, but I have a soft spot for the Tracker/Sidekick and would think hard about a RAV4 or Sportage vert.

Back to the Wrangler, specifically where Jeep is going to lose my sale. Jeep offers 3 models of the Wrangler 2-door, the X, Sahara and Rubicon. MyGig is a must, and its only available on the top two models. I hate the looks of the Sahara, the body colored fenders just dont look right. The Sahara also isn't available in white (at least according to Jeep's website) and thats my favorite color. That leaves me to either an X (without MyGig or the better looking 18" wheels of the Sahara) or a Rubicon (with all the superfluous off-road gear I dont want and dont want to pay for). If I could just get a white Sahara with black fender flares, I'd be sold.

...or that you could buy an X and tick an option box for MyGig.

....or tell your dealer that you would buy a new Jeep Sahara, but you don't want body color flares. They can probably special order one for you.

MyGig isn't an option on the X.

Its just stupid limitations, like when Ford used to offer a sunroof on the Explorer Sport, but only on ones equipped with automatics, if you went for the manual, you couldn't get a sunroof.

As you know most people can't walk and chew gum at the same time. Ford most likely thought the same thing, can't shift and open the sun roof at the same time.

You can buy an X Right Hand Drive? I wonder if that's fleet only or consumers can buy it.

My wife's aunt used to be a mail carrier and had a right hand drive Subaru. It was fun going through a drive through with a large dog in the left hand seat....really kind of freaked the girls at the window out to see a large dog supposedly driving a car...

Well, they had one at the Hillsdale, MI Chrysler dealership. So perhaps they are available for consumers. I was surprised!

i thought a base escape 5 speed manual would be a nice runabout.

you can't get SYNC with a manual transmission apparently.

why they do $h! like that really pisses me off.

Someday I'm going to buy a Jeep Wrangler for myself too. I'm just hoping Chrysler sells off Jeep and GM buys it. :AH-HA_wink:
