September 19, 200817 yr Awesome! CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (CNN) – Sarah Palin likes to tell voters around the country about how she “put the government checkbook online” in Alaska. On Thursday, Palin suggested she would take that same proposal to Washington. “We’re going to do a few new things also,” she said at a rally in Cedar Rapids. “For instance, as Alaska’s governor, I put the government’s checkbook online so that people can see where their money’s going. We’ll bring that kind of transparency, that responsibility, and accountability back. We’re going to bring that back to D.C.” oh.... wait.... There’s just one problem with proposing to put the federal checkbook online – somebody’s already done it. His name is Barack Obama. In 2006 and 2007, Obama teamed up with Republican Sen. Tom Coburn to pass the Federal Funding Accountability and Transparency Act, also known as “Google for Government.” The act created a free, searchable web site – USASpending.gov — that discloses to the public all federal grants, contracts, loans and insurance payments. Oh well.... at least: Palin might also have noted that her running mate, John McCain, was an original co-sponsor of the 2006 transparency bill that became law. I've decided I'm going to start a campaign to be Vice-Admin of C&G! I propose that we move our site away from Dreamhost and onto Bluehost.
September 19, 200817 yr Awww....I was hoping she was going to propose a law making rape victims pay for their own rape kits nationwaide. Imagine how much money that would save local law agencies.
September 19, 200817 yr Author Hey now... she cut government spending! Is this the compassionate conservatism Bush was talking about?
September 19, 200817 yr Didn't she, simultaneously put the city on the hook for like $15 million for an ice rink? In a town of like 7,000?
September 19, 200817 yr Author Come on, make Duhbuya proud! "Oil and coal? Of course, it’s a fungible commodity and they don’t flag, you know, the molecules, where it’s going and where it’s not. But in the sense of the Congress today, they know that there are very, very hungry domestic markets that need that oil first,” Palin said. “So, I believe that what Congress is going to do, also, is not to allow the export bans to such a degree that it’s Americans that get stuck to holding the bag without the energy source that is produced here, pumped here. It’s got to flow into our domestic markets first," - Sarah Palin, Energy Expert and University of Idaho graduate in sports journalism. Remember this is allegedly her sole area of expertise and she's barely above high school level.
