Alrighty, you guys talked me into it. 8)

The Cobalt is getting Mobil 1 this week when it gets its oil change...and a nice Wix filter........

But, this is the first time I've put Mobil 1 in a car with this many miles (40k), so I will be keeping an eye on things.

Besides watching the usual (seals and gaskets), is there anything else I should keeping an eye out for?

I'm looking forward to the better milage and lower operating temps..... :truck:

you hear a lot of people talking a lot of talk about running synthetic

but, i've been running synthetic in my bike from day one (10 kms on the odometer)

and i switched my old car ( a '95 concorde) to synthetic @ around 240,000 kms. it's got > 465,000kms now and i've never looked back.

start your car up in -30C after letting it sit overnight and you'll know.

watch the usual, but if you plan to keep the car, and you have some respect for her, mobil 1 is the way to go. you probably won't see much increase in mileage or power, but it'll be working for you

Yep, that's the goal... 8) And unless something happens to one of our cars, it looks like I'll wait till 2010 or 11 for a new one.....

The Cav has been running Mobil 1 since 12k (46k now) with no problems. The Eco still runs like new.

I do a good bit of city driving, so it should help in stop and go traffic.......

No surprises on hearing that a vehicle has run a lot of miles on synthetic. However, I will say that even running an engine on dino juice as long as you keep the oil changed, then she'll run practically forever.
