October 6, 200817 yr Before you laugh... you have to ask what kind of fuel cell.... If it's a hydrogen fuel cell.... that's pretty $h!ty mileage. :P
October 6, 200817 yr On Mythbusters they once ran an '80s carbeurated Olds by pumping hydrogen directly in the intake - no real mods required, just remove the fuel line and carbeurator and apply hydrogen hose to hole. ps. Yes, it was dangerous.
October 6, 200817 yr Author what myth were they trying to bust? They were trying to see if aftermarket fuel efficiency devices actually do increase mpg ratings. The car they were using, however, was a 1978 - 1981 Olds Cutlass Supreme and not a Delta 88. Edited October 6, 200817 yr by YellowJacket894
October 7, 200817 yr From what I hear, there is a guy in the next town over from me with a large delivery truck running on hydrogen. Supposedly he is getting really good mileage out of it too. After hearing about that guy, this isn't too hard to believe (assuming it is the same kind of thing.)

After hearing about that guy, this isn't too hard to believe (assuming it is the same kind of thing.) I've noticed a couple white City of Phoenix Crown Vics with 'powered by hydrogen' lettering on the sides in the city parking garage where I park for work... I want to take time an check them out..must be some Ford fleet vehicles for municipalities...
October 7, 200817 yr Why would this person put a fuel cell in it? I would be wary though of the engine anyway. Nice looking car though. It is in very good shape. Most of them here are gone or totally shot. My 2 are the few still in good shape.
October 7, 200817 yr Maybe he means he installed a fuel cell, as in the gas tanks like NASCAR uses, and he gets great mpg because he forgot to include the added fuel capacity to his calculations.
October 7, 200817 yr Could be that the gas tank has a hole in it and that was a quick fix. Kind of like the redneck gas tank on some of the Daves Farm cars. Cant think of any other reason to use a fuel cell. Add fuel capacity? These cars have a 25 gallon tank as they sit.
