Take that, Prius!

Well, yeah, the most fuel efficient cars out there available are compact sedans with small diesels. Europe has had them for years and anyone familiar with the global car market would have already known that years ago.

With apologies to Satty and Paulino, who have a Prius in the house....

Nope... don't have a Prius... my close friends do, and I hate it. :AH-HA_wink:

Midsize my ass... no midsize should have my knee pressed against the dash/center stack. I have more room in their Corolla.

Jetta TDI Sportwagen FTW. :)

With the way oil has been dropping, it seems that VW was ahead of the curve on the relaunch of the TDI vehicles. Touareg, Tiguan, and Rabbit are up next IIRC. I think the USA doesn't want to get caught with low-MPG cars again like we were this summer, so let's see if the general market gets a little more sensible in its preferences.

Oh yeah, and :Toyota:

Hybrids beat diesels around town, but on the highway, it's a different story. And the Jetta TDI is just a normal Jetta SE with a diesel engine. Imagine a dedicated TDI BlueMotion with all the eco tricks - compromised final drive ratio, low-grip overinflated tires, cheesy aerodynamic trim, and non-existent sound deadening.
