November 3, 200817 yr This look familiar? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1968-camaro...1QQcmdZViewItem
November 3, 200817 yr Author I'm not entirely certain that it is the same car... but it sure looks like it to me.
November 3, 200817 yr yes.... oh my god.... I'm so... ^$$#@&*@&%! Damnit, damn my broke self with $0 expendable. Ok, it's 3:29am... I HAVE to drive off to UPS now, I'll try to forget all about this.
November 3, 200817 yr If a person has a heart, seeing a beloved old car is always an emotional experience.
November 3, 200817 yr I'll second the authentication of the one and only Mad Max '68 Camaro. Bastards yanked the motor, too!
November 3, 200817 yr I'll second the authentication of the one and only Mad Max '68 Camaro. Bastards yanked the motor, too! What did it have under the hood? An SBC? Hopefully it won't be parted out..
November 3, 200817 yr Is she recoverable at a reasonable price, and moreover is she worth the B I N for $5500? Edited November 3, 200817 yr by smallchevy
November 3, 200817 yr What did it have under the hood? An SBC? Hopefully it won't be parted out.. It had a ZZ350 crate motor in it.
November 3, 200817 yr When a close friend and professional body-man saw my "Panther" a few days after I bought it back in summer of 2002 he remarked: (close paraphrase) Well you paid $5000 for a kick-a$$ crate motor that would cost you about as much to build yourself, and along with the motor you got a FREE 1968 Camaro. Cosmetically it's beat to $hit and needs a complete restoration, but for a 1968 Camaro residing in New England in 2002 it is rock solid underneath. The car was, as looks as if it still IS a solid starting point for a restoration. Yes, I daily drove it in the summers for four years, but the interior was 1/2 gutted when I got it and I proceeded to take up the carpet & install a n aluminum racing driver's seat & a worn but supportive passenger seat out of crashed 1980s Porsche. The seats, super-sweet ZZ350 motor and trans are basically all that are missing. Even the yellow key tag I sold it with is still there. BTW: The 1989 ZZ350 that powered my "Sixy8Panther" while I owned it was one of Hot Rod magazine's "TEN BEST HOT ROD MOTORS OF ALL TIME!" in an issue back around 2005 or so.
November 3, 200817 yr Had a GM crate motor in my 55 Chev...they ROCK! We need to drive to NY and shoot the bastards that parted out that 'maro. Chris
November 4, 200817 yr Author We shouldn't worry too much, that car is sure to get rebuilt into something worthwhile. It is highly unlikely that will ever end up in a boneyard.
November 4, 200817 yr Yup. That is the saving grace, even if the entire car rotted to death or was driven into a telephone pole, it's a 1st generation Camaro, every single nut & bolt (with the exception of the subframe which is not hard to track down or replace with a tube-chassis) can be replaced from the Year One or Classic Industries catalog, not to mention the C.A.R.S. replica complete shells.
November 5, 200817 yr At least it will get a good owner.... I hope, eBay is a funny, fickle & unpredictable place. It might not sell, it might sell to the guys neighbor off ebay or it might end up on a shipping container headed to France, Pakistan or Equador... No way to tell.... esp. with the weak dollar.
November 6, 200817 yr I hope, eBay is a funny, fickle & unpredictable place. It might not sell, it might sell to the guys neighbor off ebay or it might end up on a shipping container headed to France, Pakistan or Equador... No way to tell.... esp. with the weak dollar. Hopefully there is a good home bidding on it now.... These cars are always wanted...
November 6, 200817 yr It went to $2,225 very quickly but stalled there two days ago... the more it sells for the better the chance of a speedy restoration and thus I hope it sells for top $$$. I love that car, but for me to buy it back would be selfish and pointless. I can not afford to give it the full attention it needs.
