I can't wait to talk to my Mom and brother in Ohio tommorow..they are going to be sulking. Talked w/ my sister a couple hours ago--she was at the airport bar in Charlotte (flying from San Antonio to Dayton via Charlotte), watching Fox news , optimistic for Obama.

No, I won't either. If we can get the Republican party back on track, we can have a great democracy.

Get rid of the core values of the Bush/Chenny admin and we can have an excellent nation.

There are lots of great people who are Republicans, I wish the best to the Republican party.

A guy named Bill Clinton ran a campaign under the tagline "Change", promising 'no new taxes', got elected partially on the back of that, "took a look at the books" and promptly signed one of the largest tax increases in history. Technically, that would fall under the definition of "change", would it not?

Did anyone in the media ever ask if BO's sponsored $850T World Poverty Act's cost is figured into his ever-shifting promised tax break ? I'm going to guess: no.

Clinton is recent history..I lived through the 90s. It's part of my reality context. The Republicans are going to have to reinvent themselves if they are going to be relevant again. (As far as 1 party, I suspect many conservatives want a theocracy with a dictator for life---I know many of the foaming-at-the-mouth, rabid social conservatives..they are as scary as hell).

I saw Peggy Noonan on TV today, she was distancing herself from the Republican party. She said she was a Conservative, not necessarily a Republican. Being Republican was just a vehicle for the Conservative movement, when that vehicle no longer serves that function, it's time to look for a new vehicle.

I think if the Republicans want to succeed, they will have to go the Libertarian route. The younger generations no longer connect with the Bible-belt dominating, socially conservative GOP. Look at the polls tonight...66% of young voters chose Obama. The Republican party's message is tired and dated, and it's only going to get worse in the next 10-20 years.

Though I am Christian myself, and always have been, I feel that religious policy should never have become part of a party platform. Church and state should have remained separate, but they haven't, and it hasn't worked well in either direction.

Yes... I got in the game just at the right time and have ridden it for 10+ years.. it's been a good era to be in internet technology. Even with the dot com bubble, outsourcing, and recent layoffs, my industry still looks strong. Computers and software are so ingrained in business and the mechanisms of the world, there were always be demand..

I wouldn't say I'm in love with it, but I do enjoy solving complex problems, building complex systems. It makes me the benjamins... I've invested the last 20 years of my academic and professional life in understanding software development and practicing it.

Can't say I was overly joyed at having to WAIT to vote this time around..... Shouldn't we have "express lines" for those of us who vote in EVERY election, regardless of the candidates, the issues, the "importance"? That was the sentiment of a few of us as we waited in the lines this evening. Heck, I waited 3 times as long as I normally do to vote. That's great, of course, but why should those of us who vote in EVERY election wait for those who do not?

Yes, I agree with the media's "historic" characterization of this election.

But, aren't ALL elections historic? Listening to the reports over the last few days, you'd think that this was the ONLY election that has EVER mattered ... that this is the only election that should appear in history books.

...I'm still waiting for ANY political candidate to address the SINGLE population of the United States; all they talk about is helping "families" ... NOTHING whatsoever relevant to me.

...Since politicians are so big on "Minimum Wage" (the lowest hourly amount companies must pay employees), let's hear discussion about a MINIMUM VACATION (the days of vacation companies must at least allot to employees), too!

...Wouldn't it be nice if the politicians' power to raise campaign funds would translate into efforts to raise money for non-profit organizations and those in need?

I would take that also. Companies might complain about that one though. Of course I dont really know what I would do with more vacation. I know that sounds silly. Though I guess I would find something. Maybe a road trip in one or both of the cars?

Yes. And things that help our country first. Then if there is something left see if another friendly country needs help. But US first.

Has anyone been watching CNN? They're using hologram technology to "beam" people into the studio using 42 camera vantage points. Apparently it's a television first or something.

CNN has a clip of Wolf Blitzer talking to one of these holograms. It really seems pointless. The hologram, that is, not the conversation. Two days ago, journalists were free to go nude from the waist down. Today, not so much.

Seriously, people who use the "muslim, socialist, racist, commie" arguments are just playing with people's ignorance... most people in America have absolutely no clue about what Socialism and Communism are (except for some Cold War memories), so if someone appears closer to what a European Social-Democrat is they start using the "socialist, commie" label to inflict fear into people... I just hope that the hate talk doesn't feed any right-wing dicks' idea of harming the man...
