November 7, 200817 yr "Even if GM implements the planned operating actions that are substantially within its control, GM's estimated liquidity during the remainder of 2008 will approach the minimum amount necessary to operate its business." They're laying it on thick, aren't they?
November 7, 200817 yr They will be bankrupt by February, they might as well just do it now and get some government help for the displaced workers, restructure the whole business model, dump the union, and dump at least 4 brands. They'll be a small company with 12-15% market share, but it is all they can hope for at this point. For years they insisted on needed 8 brands and rebadging lackluster cars to keep those brands with line-ups, now they are paying for it.

I'm Union and it'd settle a bunch of scores for me going back to the late 70's.
November 7, 200817 yr Just make P-B-G-S cars as part of "Chevrolet a wholly owned subsidiary" as models and then gradually phase them out. Sorry to say but there's no need for Pontiac/Saturn/etc anymore. With losses in the billions, there is no need for other GM dealers trying to grab same Delta/Epsilon/Gamma car customers. Been doing that far too long. "GM Corp" engines are all used now, and with Corvette/Camaro, the whole "Pontiac is RWD performance divsion" doesn't work either. Chevy should be the foundation of GM. The G8 is too pricey for muscle car fans [they expect 1980's prices], also, the Solstice is 'out of style' with trendy buyers. The 'GMC is professional grade' is pure BS, Chevy trucks are exactly the same. They can then brag that they have #1 pick up. Just keep Buicks or Saturns as step up models offered at Chevy dealers, or just sell Buick in China. Or, just have GMC name for all commerical trucks. Edited November 7, 200817 yr by Chicagoland

And Ford burned $7.7bn in cash during the quarter... And Chrysler is on the Cerberus dump-list, or at least it appears so from their desire to unload it in exchange for the remaining 49% of GMAC... This is getting uglier every day Edited November 7, 200817 yr by ZL-1
