November 21, 200817 yr Author Harbot Freight Wheel Dollies Like these kind of things? There are some cheaper ones i've seen without the hydraulic lifts on them. Nah, those are cool but I need something to move a car body around without the chassis.
November 21, 200817 yr Camino: You need to get a Warn PullzAll: http://www.warn.com/works/pullzall/index.shtml Oh that thing is just cool!
November 21, 200817 yr Author Cool stuff! But the bed removal will be a "run what you brung" operation, so I'll have to get creative.
November 21, 200817 yr At this point, I'd guess that I have about 6 or 7k in the truck. I expect to have to sell it at a loss as is. Finished, I might come closer to breaking even but still lose on the total. Would you really want a 1 ton crew cab 4x4? To replace an Aura? I need to sell it , but that just seems a bit much for a DD, no? Yeah, I realized shortly after sending my post that it was a 1-ton crew cab with an 8" bed. + dual tanks Yeah, that wouldn't make much sence as a daily driver. Sorry camino!!
November 21, 200817 yr Author No worries, Roger. I picked up the chain hoist today, but I'm too tired to dive in tonight.
November 21, 200817 yr >>"I'm not sure how I'll be able to operate the hoist above the bed."<< Engine hoist won't lift it high enough ?? Can you lift the bed and block it up a foot or so, but leave it over the frame and still have room to access the tanks? 12" wide concrete blocks on end on the rails, wrap the bed/block/frame tight w/ tie downs, leave the hoist on the tailgate end for extra support...

I considered that option, but my faith in the engine hoist isn't real high. I'm going to go the chainfall and tie-down route. I'll set it up, lift the bed just enough, and roll the truck out from under. I may leave the bed suspended in midair and just back the truck back under it when I'm done.
November 22, 200817 yr Author Felt really tired last night and not so great generally, so it will be today that I give this a shot.
November 22, 200817 yr Author Time to quit stalling and get out there to give this a try. Even with 2 kerosene heaters and a space heater it's cold in the barn (18 degree low predicted tonight), but I need to get this done. I'll let you all know how it went.
