This is interesting, though I personally have very few problems with any of my chains. Couple this with Shimano's new electronic shifters/derailleurs, and you have a bike that's virtually maintenance free.

sounds cool, and I should probably buy a bike sometime. I need the exercise, and could use it to run around town.

Interesting, maintenance free? What about the tires?

Slime and a lack of caring about traction take care of that little problem.

As much as I hate rubber timing belts used to drive

metal components like the heavy valvetrain on V6

DOHC motors... this seems like a good use for a

"belt" esp. if carbon fibre.

Human power coupled with a belt is okay... but no

one in the history of cars has ever gotten their

shoelaces stuck in the timing chain of an SBC 350.

ZOMG! They're even offering an 8-speed when GM is still using 4-speeds !!!@!WELEVNETY!!!@@!! This will CRUSH Buick sales unless GM can come up with a 9-speed and also offer a 27.1 surround sound system, but they have to price it at thirty twelve thousand or less or no one will buy it! *spittle* </smk>

You'd have to be really f***ing stupid to do that. :P

I am sure somewhere somebody has done that very thing.
