November 21, 200817 yr Yup, its November 21st and I am done. We took the wagon out and picked up the last of the stuff we needed from Toys "R" Us, then went and got some other nifty stuff and now the closet is full of toys and other fine wares. The best part? Everything is paid for.
November 22, 200817 yr Lucky you! We too are paying cash for all of the Christmas presents that we'll be buying this year... however, you're done on the 21st of November, I won't be able to start until the 12th of December at the easrliest (I get a large stipend for an advisor position, which is funding our Christmas spending). The only bright spot to waiting until two weeks before Christmas may be in deeper discounts on the items we'll be buying.
November 22, 200817 yr Author Toys R Us is having a 2-day sale (today and tomorrow) that netted us some good stuff for a steal. I get 40% off anything with a Bass Pro logo (or one of the 8,000 brands that fall under the company's surprisingly large umbrella) and a pretty good discount on other stuff, so we made out pretty well when it comes to clothes and toys. I got my son and my nephew each their own tent and sleeping bag for like $24 when it would have otherwise cost $40, which means more money for other cool stuff. Like Lincoln Logs (which Toys R Us has on sale) and what could be the greatest thing ever in the history of the world, a plush faux bear rug. Edited November 22, 200817 yr by Satty
November 22, 200817 yr I finished up last Saturday. This is the first year I finished before Christmas Eve. Although I usually don't start until sometime around Dec. 20 anyway.

November 22, 200817 yr you guys are too well organized: I haven't even started!!! But we're having two 3-day weekends in early December, so I'll do my Christmas shopping then.

Remember, the difference between men and boys is the price of their toys! :rotflmao: Edited November 22, 200817 yr by Pontiac Custom-S
November 22, 200817 yr Author The bear rug is more for me than him, cause it is so cool. I wanted to get two, one for him and one to put on the floor in the living room, but there was only one left. The one thing I really wanted to get him (because I want it) is Kota the Triceratops but that one isn't happening.
November 22, 200817 yr Author I had to be pulled away from the triceratops they had on display. Its just so cool.
November 22, 200817 yr I'm getting the BF a huge armoire for Xmas so I can get part of the master bedroom closet back, but since we have nowhere to hide this monstrosity, I have to wait until a few days before Xmas to pick it up. Other than that, the sister's brats get gift certificates because they already have everything Known to Man. I think for my mother, I'm going to give her GM stock to go with her CR-V.
December 5, 200817 yr Author 1 part good news, 2 parts bad news The good Wal-Mart has dropped the price of the Triceratops to $199 The bad (1) I still cant get it, even though I really want it The bad (2) My sister and her kids are coming down for Christmas, so I have to get them real gifts instead of just gift cards
December 5, 200817 yr We started Xmas Shopping last week. Since money is tight as always, we've been carefully planning out how much to spend each week so as to (theoretically) have everything in time for Xmas. So far so good.
December 5, 200817 yr Well, I can't say that we haven't started our shopping yet... we've spent about a $100 bucks on the little guy so far, but that's it. I won't see the two stipends (only half, the other half comes in June) I'm getting until next Friday (12/12). That's when our main shopping will begin to commence. The only problem is that weekend is my wife's company overnight holiday party (12/13-12/14), so we'll have to squeeze in as much shopping as we can that weekend, and save the rest for the following week and weekend. Then the fun with wrapping after a long day of work and child care/raising!!
