While gas was cresting, then slowly sliding, I recall seeing with note that nissan's sales declines were out-of-step with toyonda's and closer to domestic's slides- what that says about nissan's buyer pool, I'm not sure; I always equate nissan with cheap econo-based, rental-grade cars... cars that consumers should be turning to in a wide shift for fuel efficiency, but seemingly not so this year. In light of the percentage declines, pulling out does not come as a surprise to me...

Their percentage declines are surprising, as their lineup as far as sedans is all pretty new, nothing more than a couple years old. They do have an overabundance of trucks and SUVs, though fewer than the Toyota or the Big 3. Then again, if the 370Z was their only new model to show, and they've already shown it in LA, then they have nothing to debut in Detroit or Chicago.

G.M. should do the same damned thing. All these shows do is show your best product to your competition. Don't believe me? Look at how Mazda beat Buick to market with the CX-7 and CX9 that are pretty much Mazda versions of the Enclave concept truck.

Save the money GM and use those funds to target the true auto enthusiests at car shows and concourse events. All these auto shows do is put your product out to a public that is intent on pulling off trim parts, stealing cigarette lighters, and otherwise lowering the value of what was once a new car.

i said like two weeks ago that the big 3 in detroit should pull out of NAIAS and cut off the free food and drinks to all the journalists who surgically slander them 51 other weeks a year.

Actually it's tough times for the imports around here in Ohio. In Marysville Honda is shutting down a few days early for X-mas, and the local big Toyota dealer just laid off several people.

We may be in for more of an automotive landslide than we thought.
