November 26, 200817 yr Author You guys are too quick and knowledgeable....it's the Chevrolet SSR. I'm still amazed this truck made it to production. I've always liked them. I see a few around, they never fail to turn heads.

November 26, 200817 yr In its own way, the SSR was a nice product. It just kinda missed the market. Too heavy, too fuel inefficient, and not a real truck. I didn't like them at all when they first came out, but they ahve grown on me over time. One of our local Chevrolet dealers, BobMcDorman Chevrolet, has a couple of the first 10 SSR's built, and IIRC they both are purple or dark blue. It's been a few years since I've seen them. This (SSR) was one of the first vehicles that convinced me GM might really be on the right track, because once I got over my initial dislike of the SSR I began to see that it was built to a really decently high standard of fit and finish, and that GM had put a lot of passion into it. My fav. SSR moment is the GM ad where they run the SSR up onto the car carrier backwards after doing a 180. Chris

November 26, 200817 yr I briefly drove an SSR to the gas station and back when I worked at the dealership, and it actually drives pretty well for how large it is, but it's too flashy for most people, I think. Plus, it's not as sporty as most convertibles and gets very poor fuel mileage.

Yep...it was like driving a concept right off the stand at the autoshow. It is the ultimate cruiser. It has drawing power to outmatch any exotic. With all the doom and gloom it's nice to look back and see some of these wonderful creations from GM.
November 27, 200817 yr I saw a bright blue SSR go rumbling past the other day...it's definitely grown on me...it's fascinating for it's outrageousness (hardtop convertible pickup!).
