As options. Straight from the 2006 Lucerne brochure...

The available touch screen DVD navigation system is sophisticated and easy to use. (Late availability.) One DVD covers almost seven millions miles of roads in the U.S. and Canada. To keep the information current, two updates are included.

Navigation is listed on the spec sheet as optional on all Lucernce trims.

Leather and Wood Steering Wheel - Genuine Walnut Burl and premium leather make the driving experience more luxurious with every turn you take.

Wood & Leather wheel is located on the same two pages as a tasteful rear deck spoilers, Walnut Burl wood shifter, 18" chrome wheels, and chrome-plated exhaust tips under 'GENUINE BUICK ACCESSORIES.'
I wonder how late "late availability" is.
Later than right now.

Waiting to place your order/deposit?
Well, that's good news, especially if the NAV will be available on all trim levels. A cloth seated CX with a factory NAV would be quite attractive to me.

Yes, it seems that GM has learned from its model/trim faux pas of the past and has made Lucerne a very a la carte car. According to the brochure, along with navigation, the h/k 9-speaker stereo, six-disc changer, remote start, electrochromic mirror, Ultrasonic park assist, and RainSense are all options on the CX, as are three of the four option groups.

This means its possible to get a Lucerne with navigation, remote start, 3800III V6 and a bench seat if desired.

Very nice, GM.

Of course, material in this publication is subject to change... :P

Not me, no. But when it gets the 3.6, it could end up in my father's driveway.

I suppose it's possible, but such a combination is unlikely to show up on dealers' lots. Can you order Buicks from the factory?

From what I'm hearing it should be out just after the first of the year.

Do you know for sure it'll get the 3.6? It should get the 3.6, but I've heard rumors of the 3.9 going in. <_<

Hm, well, the 3.6 has just 20 fewer horsepower than the 4.6, and since it'll weigh less, probably yield similar performance. The Northstar does have potential to gain more horses, but that'll cannabalize the DTS and cause more torque steer. I think I see how Buick was forced to opt for the 3800. I suppose they could have went the LaCrosse's route (3800 for CXL, 3.6 for CXS), but a V-8 probably rings a bell with traditional Buick buyers.
