December 28, 200817 yr Who said there wasn't a 1962 Pontiac Catalina bubbletop available, and that only the '62 Chevy could be had as such?
December 28, 200817 yr I remember seeing a stock yellow one on the internet a few years ago...I assume someone reskinned a '61 2dr w/ '62 rear quarters, front clip, etc.
December 28, 200817 yr That white car is a custom- in fact there's at least 2 different '62s that had a '61 greenhouse grafted on. It's not factory. Only the Chevy could be had as such. Edited December 28, 200817 yr by balthazar
December 28, 200817 yr That picture just made me realize my little Cobalt shares certain aspects of its greenhouse design with the legendary Bubbletops. I wish I had a picture to post, but my C-pillar tapers delicately to frame a back glass and triangular side glasses very similarly to the '61-'62. I swear I'm not making this up.
December 28, 200817 yr Author This is definitely a custom job....just fun to see what could have been. It was done by a guy who, when the '62 came out, told the salesman that he wanted it in the bubbletop. Salesman said no longer available and that Chevy still had it. The guy, being a diehard Pontiac guy walked out. Fast forward many years later, he decided to make his own. Love the look of it. And Blu, I totally get what you are saying about your roofline, it definitely pays homage to the bubbletop. My favorite style of all time. I like too how the rear deck at the base of the rear window just very slightly comes up to meet the slim pillar.

If it was all on one plane around the greenhouse, it'd be '59-60.... I assume it was merely done for that 'new!' look.
December 31, 200817 yr I always liked the Chevy bubbletops...looks good as a Pontiac "custom" also... Chris
