After some process of elimination, I am almost certain that my Regal, a 1992 W-body, needs at least one motor mount. (I think I asked a similar question before, but now I'm more convinced). If I'm going to do this, I want the engine/trans mounting system to have new mounts all around.

Is this an easy thing to do via a visual inspection/are they "easy" to see? (I've tried looking for diagrams or pix on the Web and can't find them readily). How many are there? What does this service cost, parts and labor? Thanks.

i'm kinda curious if they should be replaced on a given interval....?

Unless modern cars have 'de-engineered' mounts, no; they do not have to be replaced at any particular time/mileage interval.

But occasionally they break, yes.

I believe there's a mount right up top/front of the 3.8L, but the others are not going to be easy to see, esp the trans mount. Traditionally, there are 2 motor mounts & 1 trans mount, but I've never looked to learn how many a transverse motor may have.

If it was my car, I would only replace the 1 obviously-broken mount. Not worth the book price to swap out the other 2 if they are still whole.

Thanks. Seems pretty thorough to me.

I'm not at work to check but I think those mounts are really expensive. I'd only replace any of them if absolutely necessary. If it has the REALLY big one on the thick ass bracket, its like $250 from the dealer!!!
