212hp for 3439lbs? That 4-pot's not going to be setting any records, that's for sure. Will be interesting to see how easily modified it is to crank that hp up, though.

That's pretty low. The Caliber SRT4 makes close to 300 from the 2.4L. Then again this is the base model, and I'm sure a bigger turbo would crank up the HP.

Man, they really dumbed the car down from the yellow concept shown at that site.

give hyundai credit. they at least are outdoing all the other rice out there with this, except the rx8 and 350z. the rx8 drinks oil and gas and still lacks power. the 350z looks diseased sometimes.

According to this article it is a 2.0L, which makes a lot more sense. Not exactly a sporting engine, but sufficient.

Edit: With premium fuel, it is rated to 223hp.

I really do question Edmunds' accuracy.

I think they may have also messed up on the trim levels for the Genesis coupe.

Actually no. The Ecotec in the astra is not a "Family II" based engine like the 2.0/2.2/2.4 we mostly see here. It is a closer cousin to the Daewoo engines used in the Forenza, Reno, and Aveo IIRC. As a result, the 2H0 has a cast iron block, belt driven cams, and solid lifters.

Edmunds have messed the specs. It has always been 2.0L turbo mill.

Not a bad vehicle. At least they had guts to continue, knowing fully that volume of sales may not beat mustang or Z.

Exactly what other "rice" are they outdoing and why? Doesn't look like a bad car, but not worth the hype imho.

It's odd they gave both vehicles the same name, since they really are two different cars with different markets, different engine choices, different designs. It seems like Hyundai set out to create a Genesis brand with a luxury sedan and a sporty coupe (with different names), but that their plans changed and the brand name became the model name.

The Genesis coupe is like the Camry Solara. Their similarities with the sedans lie in the model name only, and it is purely done for marketing reasons, so the sales can be combined.
