Camino what about a low miles and good shape B-Body Impala SS?

Used stuff isn't the point here, it could be a long thread all on its own.

Camino, there's a quote I have that I think may help you deal with this situation and motivate you to put your anger towards something more positive:

You may not realize it when it happens, but a kick in the teeth may be the best thing in the world for you.

Walt Disney

Anyway, getting back to the point of this topic, I'll post a picture of ocnblu's previous vehicle, the 2007 GMC Sierra, as a reminder of how nice that truck was, especially the sound of the custom exhaust, as my suggestion (although I know you said you were through with GM, you can't deny how nice these new trucks are):

And if you must, a regular cab, shortbed Chevy Silverado is *almost* just as nice as the GMC Sierra :neenerneener:

I do love mine!

what about the new mustang?

ITEM_7-R-4_2008_MUSTANG_GT_VAPOR_.jpg

If I was in the market right now, it would be the Pontiac G8 in base form. While there are things about it I am not crazy about, the proportions are more restrained and in good taste than the GP that preceded it (though, for the umpteenth time, I love the engine in the base GP, as I currently own two of those engines).

I would take a G8 over the next-gen LaCrosse any day of the week. The G8 looks good from virtually every angle.

So that's my answer right now, given what is, and what will be, on the market.

No more rule-breaking!

No GM stuff this time around.

Mustang meets the minimum requirements - but I'm not feeling it.

Never!

Anyway the other thread gave me another suggestion for you.

Open bed, RWD, manual, no V8 but I'm sure you can do a conversion, they have been doing that for years. 2 doors...hell you can have no doors! And you can fold down the windshield!

I win. :D

You know you want one. :P

Interesting that you bring up the wrangler, I've begun to hunt for that clean, 2-door Tahoe/Yukon I've always wanted again.

Yet another in the long litany of cool vehicles we've lost.

Ah, but you can buy a Wrangler new. Chrysler will be happy yo sell you one.

Well, at this point, I don't actually know what I want.

With one news item, I went from absolute certainty to not really having a clue what my next new vehicle would be.

Really not big on Jeeps, DF.

On the upside, I spent way too much time on ebay today and I don't think I'll get bored with used stuff anytime soon.

I expect that I'll play with a bunch of used stuff before I give in to new car lust again.

Chris would be proud of you. *nods*

Everybody has an agenda.

I have noticed Audi coupes quite often in the last few months, in fact I posted a quite favorable reaction. :AH-HA_wink:

Who knows what the future will bring.

But it won't be bringing a stinking sedan!

The A5 is very striking in person. I've been lucky enough to see a few of them.

I've ridden in Chris's A5. It's quite nice. :P

At this point I'd say that I will be looking more closely at the Challenger and the 2-door Audis.

Beyond that, who knows?

With an A5, you'll have to tint the windows so you don't go paranoid from the stares, it's that hot. Doane's prolly got ALL the chicks since he bought his.

You didn't say it had to be new, did ya?

But then again, if it has to be new, you can't really argue with 540 HP:

+1 Vote for the new 'stang. I actually may like it better than the Camaro full stop... They've fixed the interior and the exterior styling and it just doesn't look as bulky as the Camaro.

So.

Is anyone ready to make a final prediction?

By now you should know what drives a purchase for me, so how much of a prophet are you?

Place your bets.

Let's see--I predict you will decide to go with a Pontiac above all else---not a coupe, not RWD. Not a sedan.

You will buy the new G3 and bring driving excitement to your life. YOU KNOW YOU WANT IT!!! G3! G3! G3! G3!

haha (not my final bet but I just thought of a good one...)

Pontiac Vibe.

You know.. it's like "supporting GM" by putting money in Toyota's pocket!

I can assure you of this much - my final choice will not be based on how much I can stick it to GM, but upon my requirements for any new vehicle purchase.

In other words, it won't be GM but it will be all Camino.

3-series coupe.

Final answer here is a Challenger R/T or SRT8, but most likely the latter.

Challenger R/T with manual transmission. In blue. Extra key sent to my address.

BV, the A5 is hawt!

Tsk, tsk....that's an S5. :D

It does seem to get a lot of looks but that's not why I got the windows tinted. Bleech, certainly not for the chicks either!

Oh, your windows are tinted? I didn't realize. Is it hard to see out of with the dark windows. like esp @ night?
If I don't calm down before I run into any GM reps, I just might end-up in the back of one.

It is RWD, and I'm sure an LSx will slide in with a few slight modifications.

So.

Challenger, most likely. Even though I know you actually secretly lust for the A5/S5. :P

Heh-heh...I'd tint the windows because of the glare of the sun and the 115 degree heat.

What's your price limit, Camino?

Tough question.

My plan had been to get a G8 ST in model year 2011 (I was hoping for a GXP version with the manual).

So now, I may delay a bit longer to the 2012 MY.

I'd say that low 40k's would be the upper limit, and I'd be trying to keep it much lower if I could get what I really want.

Think Firebird Formula as opposed to T/A - all the grunt but without the fluff.

To get your Pontiac truck fix that the G8 ST would have provided, get a Canyon (it is a BPG truck), remove the GMC badges, duct tape a pair of Pontiac nostrils over the grille, and glue on some V-crest badges.. :)
