January 17, 200917 yr What an F'ing beautiful car!! I had a parts car '72- it had gotten hammered in the rear quarter, so it kindly donated it's engine, trans & 4-note horns for my '59. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l8ZJ2zW9poI
January 17, 200917 yr You guys know I'm not much of a Buick fan - but I've always made an exception for these boattails. Has to be one of the top ten most creative production bodystyles ever to come out of GM's studios. I'd take mine in '71 trim. Yeah, it's huge, but what lines!

January 18, 200917 yr early GM sketch for the '71 : Now that''s cool. I like how they put the license plate bracket on the opposite side of the exhausts and shaped it the same. That's attention to detail.
January 18, 200917 yr I've been on the hunt for the perfect '71 for a few years now; I'd love to find one soon!
January 18, 200917 yr 1971/2, When Cars were not appliances and/or politically correct billboards of liberal stint. A "Hybrid" meant you dropped a 396 & M22 out of a totaled '67 Chevelle SS into a chopped '41 Willys 5-window coupe. And Toyota/Honda was KNOWN by the public, as most things "MADE IN JAPAN", to be inferior junk! ----- New Car Roadtest in 1971: Acceleration, Braking, Cornering, Style, POWER, Design, Comfort.... Roadtest in 2009: Cupholders, airbags, HID headlights, extra thick plastic-covered B-pillar, HD/XM radio, did we mention CUPHOLDERS!?
January 19, 200917 yr Well I already own one of my favorite Riviera's, add a '65 GS and a '71 Riv in there and I'd be set.
January 19, 200917 yr This fellow has a lot of other interesting road tests on his You Tube site - a 1969 Impala with a 396 2 bbl (0 to 60 in 13.7 seconds), a 1969 LTD with a 428, a 1973 Cutlass 455, a 1971 Cutlass 442 with 455, and many others.
January 25, 200917 yr early GM sketch for the '71 : Holy cow that IS cool! I, too, like those boat tail Rivs..... January 25, 200917 yr Author Perfect sequence: Riv going thru the turn (58 sec ~ 1:04). Great, also, to hear that BB Buick roar- Buick's haven't snarled like that... since there were Buick engines... >>"This fellow has a lot of other interesting road tests on his You Tube site"<< Just watched the '63 Galaxie vs. Impala- and tho they didn't tell any accel times, by watching the flagman shrink to a spec as quick as he did; both these "top-engine" cars were flat hauling ass (1:24 & 1:45 sec)... info says 406 & 409 V-8... 4bbl 409 Impala was good for 0-60 in around 6.6 sec. Wonder how much quicker 427 cars would've appeared.
