A choice of two cars...

Featured Replies

A buddy of mine is getting a car for his son (he will be 16 in two weeks), and he has narrowed it down to a few choices: A cavalier and a Century. He is a good kid, and he loves cars. (and hates ricer cars).

He currently has a 95 Escort he is fixing himself for a beater. (best way to learn)

2004 Crapalier LS- White, full power, sunroof, 2dr. Very good shape, only has 57k on it. Needs tires and a fuel filter. Lady actually puts Mobil 1 in it. He could get it for 2700....

2001 Grandpa getter-tan, 82k, very clean, tiny bit of rust. fully loaded, needs nothing. 2800 bucks

Which one would you choose for your kid?

Century Hands Down. The W-Century and W-Regal were rated the best and second best midsize cars in overall dependability for their entire production run by JD Power and there are more than enough success stories to go along with that fact. The 3100 is known to get low-mid 20s in the city and over 30 on the hwy. Cheaper to insure and less likely to be stolen. It's a no-brainer.

Dammit people, is Vee the only one that is going to give a reason? :neenerneener:

I could have had a poll for that....

Century. More room, less ugly.

Quite a few people complain about the front of the 03+ Cavs...

Maybe I'm just used to it since I have one.......

If it makes you feel better I complain about it regardless of the year. :P

I love a soft spot for the 85-87 and 00-02 ones...I guess because I owned those....

We tend to have soft spots for cars we own. :)

Century.

... but if he can find a Regal... :P

I would have to go for the Century. Cavaliers are just crap, no offense. :P

I would go Cav better fuel economy and slightly more sporty and less old-man-ish for a kid. Also less power to get in trouble with. The rust would stop me from getting the Buick anyways.

This alone is enough reason to get the Century and never look back.

Cavalier is a death trap in certain collision situations. Go for the Century, which is generally well-rated all-around. Major plus that it's fully-loaded. Ws are good cars.

Meh, I know a few people who got nailed pretty good in their Cavs (my brother included), and walked away just fine...
