Re-read this part...

Initially, the truck's five-cylinder engine was replaced with a 5.3L LS1, which suffered a meltdown during the beginning stages of the buildup. Robert reslugged the bottom end with forged Wiseco pistons, a Lunati crankshaft, and Eagle connecting rods. The engine then displaced six liters and was topped off with factory L92 heads and a Nitrous Express N2O kit.

So basically what was a 5.3L V8 was transformed into a 6.0L V8.

awesome. sitting in the dealership lounge awaiting mine to be serviced i flipped through the colorado book and kept flipping back to the extended cab sport with the 5.3 in it. if it had been around 5 yrs ago it would be in my garage. i got 4 payments left on mine now so there is no way i will sign up for another 60 months anytime soon but it did look great in the new black granite metallic with 18's

Sweet! Now slap the Canyon's grille on this and turbocharge the V8 and give me the keys. :P;)

Or better yet, use this fascia:

Did they mean 5.3L LS4? Or did they mean a 5.7L LS1? I am just wondering what it started with or was it a Vortec 5.3L. I understand it was modified and now displaces 6L... Sweet a$$ truck, GM can you build one already? Or at least a Silverado SS?

That was a 2005 SEMA show truck, called the Canyon AT4 (GMC also did a Sierra Crew Cab as an AT4). The Canyon AT4, if I'm not mistaken, was sold at the recent Barrett-Jackson auction. I think the front end would have made a good MCE for 2008/2009 the latest.

I think it's the front end at least one of the two trucks should have had. Not...oh...let's put a GMC badge on...completely different! Plus it looks far better and more integrated, IMHO.

Unfortunately, they are still stuck with the Colorado's dreadfully cheap, nasty interior (the '82 S10 interior was nicer than the Colorado's).

Why is GM selling Colorados/Canyons to anybody?

They're not, just check the sales numbers.
