February 28, 200917 yr I've been spending much of my time this month in this shop wrenching on these cars. Today I was working on the red and white car and cleaning it up as I go. All of the wheelwell areas and engine compartment was as nasty as the driver's side of the compartment still is. Healeys are leaky little buggers. By Wednesday, this car has to be back on its wheels.
February 28, 200917 yr What can you tell me about the Volvo? Something like that with a 302 Ford would be a bitchin' little Swedish vixen!
February 28, 200917 yr Author What can you tell me about the Volvo? Something like that with a 302 Ford would be a bitchin' little Swedish vixen! It's a '63 122S with the B18 engine and a manual. The son of my Old boss (new boss?) restored it back when I managed their old estate. He was a kid then, now he's the hot shoe of the race team.
February 28, 200917 yr Author New job? Yes and no. It's a part time gig. I took care of these cars a few years back, and have been brought back in to get them ready for the season.
February 28, 200917 yr Author Beauty is in the eye of the beholder ... True. But this is not one of the most loved of Thunderbird generations. It's huge, and with the continental kit the rear overhang is about 6 feet!
February 28, 200917 yr True. But this is not one of the most loved of Thunderbird generations. It's huge, and with the continental kit the rear overhang is about 6 feet! It's the closest thing I will get to the Batmobile from the old TV series. Stop messing with my dream ...
February 28, 200917 yr No doubt with CPF in the driver's seat and you alongside with your little mask over your eyes...
February 28, 200917 yr No doubt with CPF in the driver's seat and you alongside with your little mask over your eyes... Don't hate ...
February 28, 200917 yr Author It's the closest thing I will get to the Batmobile from the old TV series. Stop messing with my dream ... OK, I'll give you that. I guess it's just that when I think T-bird it's not this one. I like both earlier and later examples much better.
March 1, 200917 yr OK, I'll give you that. I guess it's just that when I think T-bird it's not this one. I like both earlier and later examples much better. Gated Community FTW ...
March 1, 200917 yr Author I don't know, maybe it's just the whole feel of early 60's "high society" attached to the car. And the tiki torches that light as it passes each one - seems a bit tacky.
March 1, 200917 yr And the tiki torches that light as it passes each one - seems a bit tacky. What do you mean tacky? I have them along my driveway in Delaware ... Do not challenge the gate ...
March 1, 200917 yr Author What do you mean tacky? I have them along my driveway in Delaware ... Do not challenge the gate ... The Silverado is currently snowplow equipped...
March 1, 200917 yr Author What a cool shop, filled with cool cars. I've always loved those old Healey's. Yeah, I'm having fun there. In fact I am going to go put in some time shortly. The snow will limit what I can do tomorrow.
March 1, 200917 yr The Silverado is currently snowplow equipped... I am not in Delaware, your efforts are futile ...
March 2, 200917 yr Author Here are some shots of the suspension on the red and white car going back together and some better shots of the mystery car. [
March 2, 200917 yr Author I really doubt that anyone will figure it out. I'll give you guys another day or so, then I'll post the answer.
March 2, 200917 yr I've seen that spare tire treatment somewhere before... Just can't think of where and what name attaches to the car.
March 2, 200917 yr I was going to say "sharp little MG, what model is it exactly?" So here go my first three guesses: - 1932-ish Aston Martin? - 1935-ish Riley (something post-Broooklands) - 1930s Rover race car of some sort?
March 2, 200917 yr Author None of the above,68. You do have the decade right, and have named one of the two years that the car was built. The car is extremely rare - about 100 total were ever built.
March 3, 200917 yr Author Let me go get my dinner first, then I'll provide the answer and a link. :AH-HA_wink:
March 4, 200917 yr Author It's a '33 Vale Special http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vale_Special One of three in this country.
