March 10, 200917 yr Trans Am Notchback I remember when these came out. This style wasn't very popular.
March 10, 200917 yr Yeah, very rare. The weird part is that aftermarket versions were everywhere back then - never quite understood that.

The after market notchback was a much LE$$ expensive way to replace the hatchback if the glass was broken due to stupidity, vandalism, minor accident etc. Also, a buddy of mine had the 80% fiberglass & 20% glass "notchback" rear to save weight since it shaved quite a few Lbs. & few ticks at the dragway ver the heavY!!! glass. My '83 Firebird T-top had blown struts back there and I can tell you that damn gigantic glass weighed AT LEAST 40Lbs.
March 10, 200917 yr If they had just made a trunk on it rather than having the whole rear open like a hatchback, I think it would have looked better and maybe been more accepted. Not really my cup of tea.

March 10, 200917 yr I've never been a big fan of that gen of Camaros/Firebirds...but I like that, I really like that
March 10, 200917 yr My buddy is looking at picking one up. These aren't a 1-yr only option, are they ?? I always liked the notch because it was a refreshing change from the huge RR glass.

March 10, 200917 yr I never cared for a coupe, that, when viewed in profile, the rear wheel arch is noticeably further back than the greenhouse. A lot of the downsized "formal roof" GM coupes committed that sin. I dunno, it gives an El Camino vibe in a bad way.
