March 20, 200917 yr my buddy who sometimes meanders upon our forums (mainly hangs out at the ranger forums but he wants back into an Fbody) dsfd506 is a state employee and brought up a video for me to watch. this is from our capitol city, the used car salesmen i think is fueling this without knowing (or caring) what he is sould be contributing to. its one thing to own an ex cop car but i cant help but think that maybe there are ulterior motives that could be afoot. what is your opinion. http://videos.thestate.com/vmix_hosted_app...1&sort=NULL Edited March 20, 200917 yr by cletus8269
March 20, 200917 yr Until someone who isn't a police officer tries to pull someone else over in one, I don't see a problem with it. Edited March 20, 200917 yr by YellowJacket894
March 20, 200916 yr I'd think it would be very difficult to get anywhere in an ex-cop car because when ppl see you in their rearview, they slow waaaay down, even if they're doing the speed limit.
March 20, 200916 yr I drive an '01 Police Interceptor for my beater, my young Soldiers are always asking me if I want to sell it. I think most of it is just the DONK, air suspension lifestyle that is the appeal.
March 20, 200916 yr At night people are afraid to pass the GM, and will literally fly up to withing a few feet of it in the passing lane and then slow down to the speed we're going for a while before slowly creeping past. You can't buy that kind of respect. However, as far as cop cars go, there's only one I want:

March 21, 200916 yr I get the same thing in my crown vic. Yep, people see the profile and not the details and think "cop car".
March 21, 200916 yr Author This 9c1 (and the Camaro B4C) are the only cop cars I really have the hots for. there you go

I've had experiences like that before in rental GMs and CVs... I once had a black CV rental in Chicago that looked pretty much like a detectives' car. Was fun on the freeway.. In the late '90s, I worked w/ a guy that drove a 1990 or so Caprice 9C1 ex police car...white, w/ spotlights and push bars...pretty cool. Edited March 21, 200916 yr by moltar
March 21, 200916 yr Once I pulled up to a junkyard in a circa 8-yr old MoPar sedan- steel roof, great shape, blackwalls & 'cop caps'. Walking in- the office was deserted... took about 5 minutes for one of the regulars to pop his head out & say 'Oh, it's you guys! We thought it was the IRS!'. Guess that said it all about the operations there...

A friend of mine had a '95 CV a while back ... and when he came out this way for a visit, he said he loved his CV because he was able to pass everyone at the speed limit because people slowed down thinking it was a police car coming up behind 'em. *shrugs* I've been told I should pick up a CV or an older Caprice cop car for my winter car/daily driver.... March 23, 200916 yr I've had some guys pull out behind me and another car one night driving an old interceptor. They flew right up to the back bumper of that other car and rode their tail for a few minutes before switching lanes. I noticed them flying up to the back of my truck til they got bout 20ft away and then slowed down below the speed limit. I took my time turning at a stop light so I could see them go by but they waited til I was completely on the other road before going through the intersection. I forgot to mention my thin blue line sticker in the back glass didn't I ? Personally, I feel these cars should be stripped of everything. Including the Interceptor badge and spot light. That car dealer saying that he can get the badges just shows that he has no respect for the law. If it ain't a current patrol car, you do not need those badges. With all these police impersonations nowadays, i'm afraid citizens are going to get to complacent. I've had people pass my patrol car, with Interceptor badge and a state tag, and not think twice about slowing down. Getting sad really. Edit: BTW, I am the Ranger guy that would like another F body LOL Here are my police car picks: Edited March 23, 200916 yr by DSFD506
March 23, 200916 yr Get this... When I was in DC a few days ago, I saw a CV that had to be a former Metropolitan Police cruiser. Dead giveaway? The residue from the decals was still EVERYWHERE on the car. You could read it.
March 25, 200916 yr Papa Like! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This (and the Camaro 9C1) are the only cop cars I really have the hots for.
