About an hour ago, an F3 tornado touched down in the NW part of Ames. I haven't heard anything on the damage up there, but I got a pic of the tornado as it was going back up into the sky. I'm ok and the Iowa State campus was unaffected. They had to evacuate Jack Trice Stadium because people were there for the ISU - Colorado game. We never get tornadoes in November!

I was looking at a severe weather map earlier tonight and saw a bunch of tornado warnings for that area. I wondered about the game. I'm watching it now. It's early in the game which I thought must have indicated a late start. I guess because of the weather. We'll say a prayer that there are no injuries up there.

Here's video that was taken by an observer in Woodward, which is a small town southwest of Ames...very dramatic footage of the destruction as it was happening.

Ames Tornado

3 Tornadoes officially touched down, with Woodward receiving the most extensive damage from an F3. About 40 homes were damaged there and another 25 in Straford, with one death.

While I'm one of those that loves thunderstorms, it must be hell to feel so helpless as your home is lost. Glad to hear you're ok, Mustang.

Check out that old Lumina on her roof and the white Grand Prix with the peeled hood.
We got 40-50 mile and hour winds out of this thing. Some power outages in Green Bay and trees down. Here we just have some tree branches down and the sign for the restauraunt across the street got damaged for the second time in a week.
