Had to fire a guy this morning. He didn't take it too well. Wasn't a good morning. My blood sugar tanked and I felt like $h!, then I let someone get into my head and it kicked off a whole new round of "Oh $h!, I'm royally screwing my life up by doing everything I've been doing the last few years." So now I'm second guessing just about everything. It sucks.

Just be glad you are the firer and not the fire-ee

Just crack open a nice bottle of Champagne or Sparkling Wine. . .

Prefrence to Bollinger (if you can afford it) or a nice bottle of Moet Chandon or some California Chandon.

The thing is, I only take criticism to heart when the critic is someone smarter than I, and this guy is, and he really got to me. I think I'm at the point where I'm more pissed that I let it get to me than anything else.

As far as having to fire people goes, in this economy, make sure you have Security on speed dial.

security escorts people out of the hospital whenever someone is let go involuntarily. not that anyone at the hospital has done anything. they also like to break the news towards the end of the shift so they dont stew on it all day.

You should only take criticism to heart when you respect the person. There are lots of "smart" people that have criticized me on various things, except I don't really accept their point of view as valid and/or applicable (think: hardcore academics who are waaaaay out there in their own little world of theory and how things "have to be"). Only my closest friends can criticize me and have it mean a damn thing.

It's tough but it happens... go for a walk, bike ride, whatever, then get drunk :P

Well at least you don't work for the Post Office, their employees have killed more people than the CIA ... :P

I probably should have done it sooner, the guy needed to be gone, if not for reasons of ineptitude, then for budgetary purposes. I would have waited until tomorrow or Thursday, but it was pretty much the worst kept secret in the world that I was going to have to do something so I did it after all my other options were confirmed dead.

And yeah, unfortunately the guy who got into my head was someone whose opinion I do respect, so it stung, but I think I'm over it.

Thanks guys

:mind-blowing:

I hope things are smoother today, Saturnfan the post whore. Tell us again, what is sodomy?

Want to know what doesn't work to burn of steam at the end of a terrible week? Yanking the gas tank out of an Olds 88. It sucked, I'm ready to take a torch to the parts car just to make access easier.
