April 3, 200916 yr If I want to, I can exchange the minor landscape job I'm doing right now for a Vintage smallblock Chevy. It is a circa 1955/56 265 with the original Carter WCFB dual quads on the original GM dual quad manifold. It needs a rebuild/restoration. I really shouldn't do it, but...
April 3, 200916 yr someone is willing to trade you a classic car for a landscaping job? How would that even work? He just shows up for the landscaping job and you take the car? Edited April 3, 200916 yr by Teh Ricer Civic!
April 3, 200916 yr Author someone is willing to trade you a classic car for a landscaping job? How would that even work? He just shows up for the landscaping job and you take the car? No,no. I'm doing the landscape job. And it's not a car, just the engine. It is my option to take the engine, or the cash.
April 3, 200916 yr Well, it depends....do yu plan to use this in a car? Do you plan to rebuild it and resell it? Would it sell or more than the landscaping job would cost? IF yes to any of those I would seriously consider it.
April 3, 200916 yr No,no. I'm doing the landscape job. And it's not a car, just the engine. It is my option to take the engine, or the cash. OH! lol, that makes a lot more sense. Well how much is the engine worth?
April 3, 200916 yr Author OH! lol, that makes a lot more sense. Well how much is the engine worth? With the carbs and intake, likely quite a bit.
April 3, 200916 yr What is the engine out of? Bel Air Power Pak? Corvette? Could be worth coin if someone was looking for thier motor!
April 3, 200916 yr Author What is the engine out of? Bel Air Power Pak? Corvette? Could be worth coin if someone was looking for thier motor! Haven't run the numbers, but it would have to be from one of those. It came out of a speedboat in the 70s and has been in storage ever since.
April 3, 200916 yr Author Well, it depends....do yu plan to use this in a car? Do you plan to rebuild it and resell it? Would it sell or more than the landscaping job would cost? IF yes to any of those I would seriously consider it. That's just it, I don't know what I'll do with it if I take it. If money in hand wasn't so tight, I would take it in a heartbeat. And I'm still thinking it over as things are.
April 4, 200916 yr Tangible Goods > paper money backed by NOTHING. And a '55 SBC is one damn fine tangible good, even one needing a rebuild.
April 4, 200916 yr Tangible Goods > paper money backed by NOTHING. And a '55 SBC is one damn fine tangible good, even one needing a rebuild. Except I'm petty sure you can't pay utility bills by handing them a motor.
April 4, 200916 yr Geez Camino, now all I'd have to do is find a '55 or '56 Chevy 3100 Stepside that is missing it's engine and then I can have you restore it ALL for me!!
April 4, 200916 yr I'm going to pay my mortgage with paperclips and a riding lawnmower. Q-tips & used syringes would be more your style... no?
April 4, 200916 yr Author Recent events have conspired against the idea of taking the 265 - for now. I'll be needing the cash for more boring things.
April 6, 200916 yr I love trading stuff like this... Around here, people trade car stuff for services all the time. The first work I had done on my '73 was in trade for my labor around the shop. LOL, memories...
