GMI: Next-Gen Cadillac DTS confirmed for Uber LWB EPII

Featured Replies

Meh...too little, too late. The MKS is out now. That's the only car I could see something like this competing with. It's going to take 4 years to bring this to market? LAME.

Well, this isn't exactly a change... the current DTS is essentially a Lucerne. A long-wheelbase version of the LaCrosse (Epsilon II) is rumored to be the NG Lucerne. So Caddy gets a version, too.

Nope, no change at all. GM will continue to spiral down the drain.

To my knowledge GM was never considering a NG Lucerne at all beyond the original Zeta Park Avenue which has been canned. This Ultra LWB EP II has only showed up in the discussion of this particular Cadillac.

I would assume this Ultra LWB EP II will also be used for the next Impala, assuming they eventually give up on the W-body.

as indicated to me the the NG Impala was supposed to be Zeta, and then it was supposed to be on the same wheelbase as the new LaCrosse. Now, however it looks like the decision that GM is making is either LWB Alpha for the Impala or discontinue it all together after 2012.

It'll make a good Citroën C6 competitor.

So Cadillac stops wanting to be 'Standard of the World' and tries to beat a Tier2 OEM on the large car/luxury segment. This is almost as good as Return to Greatness.......

Odd comparison, considering Citroen isn't sold in the US. The clear NA competition for the next DTS/whatever (DT7? Lame attempt at a name) is the Lincoln MKS and maybe the Acura RL..

That is exactly what I thought of.

Yeah, and the MKS is out now..seems like a pretty nice car overall, definitely a more modern and up-to-date comfort-oriented luxury sedan than the outdated Lucerne and DTS. But it's going to be 4 years until Cadillac has a competitor???
