Model termination and customer loyalty; RL POLK

Featured Replies

This story only repeats what many of us have stated over and over. Brand Loyalty can make or break a company if they do not engage the customers of terminated models to get them into newer models.

If Toyota made a sorry Corolla, the next model would still bear the same name. Getting rid of popular names like Lesabre, Century, Grand Prix, Deville, etc. blows my mind. The constant name changes of models confuses the customers. A good company keeps its customers and treats them right as well. Most consumers aren't savvy Cheers and Gears readers. They don't have the time nor desire to learn which model replaces another model. Can you imagine Honda getting rid of Accord or Civic? Or Toyota getting rid of Corolla or Camry? Or Nissan getting rid of Altima, Sentra or Maxima. Yet Buick got rid of Lesabre. Chevy got rid of Cavalier. Pontiac got rid of Grand Am and Prix. HOW STUPID!!
