April 17, 200916 yr Author What is this rubber ball you speak of? My mice have no balls. Haha! Well my mouse only has one - and it's shrinking!
April 17, 200916 yr That sounds like a personal problem! Anyway, I'm not sure you can go and buy one per say, but mice balls are universal ins ize for teh most part. So with a little snipping and unscrewing from a willing donor, your mouse will have bigger balls! Otherwise, get an optical or laser mouse and never look back!
April 17, 200916 yr You know PETA is going to get on your ass for doing crazy, cross gender mouse experiments.
April 17, 200916 yr If you do buy a new mouse, make sure your computer has a USB port - because that's all they connect to these days.
April 17, 200916 yr Wow! I really am on C&G! In all seriousness, I found an old computer in the attic and couldn't attach any mouse to it - the ports were the giant, screw-in kind. I never knew. And the computer really didn't seem that old... made in the 2000s, I think? Edited April 17, 200916 yr by empowah

April 17, 200916 yr They have USB-to-Serial and USB-to-PS/2 adapters for ancient relics like that. But then, it'd probably be cheaper just to get an optical mouse.
April 17, 200916 yr The thing that always annoyed me about mouse balls were how the rollers around the ball would get gunked up and make movements awkward. This thread reminds me of a faux-PSA I saw on an episode of Reno 911! about keeping your mouse balls clean. Edited April 17, 200916 yr by moltar

Interesting..I think even my 15 yr old Packard Bell PC had the PS/2 style mouse port (i.e. the green or purple round plug in).
April 17, 200916 yr Wouldn't a new mouse be like $8? I cant imagine you'll find a replacement ball for much less than that. Now if you could find a public computer that still used balled mice, that would be a different story.
April 17, 200916 yr Author I've got it working again already, so I'll wait until it craps out entirely before I do anything about it.
