It looks like Chrysler wants something even bigger than the huge test track that they had at last year’s show and GM has “agreed” to split up their brands at the now 1.2-million square-foot Chicago Auto Show next year. Cadillac, HUMMER and Saab will be moving into the North Hall, along with the luxury imports. We can look at this two ways: it sucks that GM, which has been on a bender to remind everyone what brands are GMs, has to split up their luxury marques BUT having them nestled in with the import luxury brands could be a boon for Sabb and Cadillac.

I went to the Chicago show last year. After seeing how it's layed out, I don't think it will have a negative impact on GM. I'll follow the school of thought that it will help the image of Cadillac, SAAB, & HUMMER.
I agree in saying it would hurt GM to have to move their two strongest brands and it's only import brand in the luxury section of the hall because the rest of the cars from GM aren't that great in comparison.

The off-road track was at the NY show for the Commander debut. Chrysler had a "street" track at Chicago to show off the Charger.
OK...people buy Cadillac, Buick, SAAB, etc and not "GM" and it makes it good to separate that what with all the negative publicity recently with "GM" going bankrupt, not Caddy, SAAB, etc...I also think it will help them being located with import luxury. Finally, if people WANT the GM connection, they have no further to look than the little badge by the wheel wells to know that yes indeed, that Cadillac is from the same company as Chevrolet.
Sounds like a decent idea to me. It'd be good to have them all in one place, but maybe some BMW, M-B, Audi, Lexus, etc., lovers who wouldn't normally go over to the GM section just to check out Cadillac will this year because it will be close to the others I listed.
