April 28, 200916 yr VWVortex- Golf VI to be.. GOLF in the U.S.! I for one am glad for this. I always feel embarrassed when I tell others that I drive a Rabbit.
April 29, 200916 yr Author There seems to be quite a bit o jubilation over this at the VWVortex Forums as well.
April 29, 200916 yr Good move. Seemed odd to bring the Rabbit name back. Seemed as retrograde as if they had brought back Dasher or Quantum for the latest Passat.
April 29, 200916 yr VW has a thing for names that are either weird, random, stupid, or unpronounceable.

Which is one reason why VW called the Golf Mk I "Rabbit" in the US all those years ago... to avoid confusion. I never knew that. I thought Golf and Polo were meant to have some sort of thematic tie. I think Gulf would be a nice name, but of course that wouldn't make much sense now either.
