PLEASE SIGN MY PETITION TO STOP TOP SPEED GOVERNORS ON NEW VEHICLES. WHEN I HIT THE FUEL CUTOFF, MY HEAD FLIES FORWARD LIKE A CRASH TEST DUMMY, AND I DON'T LIKE THAT.

Thanks for your support.

signed, Speedy in Pennsylvania

On the 2000-05 DeVille at least, the Driver's Info Center reads "TOP SPEED FUEL CUTOFF" when you hit the ceiling.
I've never experienced this... so I can't sign quite yet... (damn GA fiddling with my plans)
Silly governors...I thought you were talking about Arnold. I've never experienced fuel cut-off myself.

1997 STS: 128mph

1997 Grand Am: 115mph <_<

Everything else I've ever had was drag limited. I bealieve the same for the Datsun. The Camaro however will easily do about 150 wiht more RPM left. The problem is it takes a madman like myself to take it past 120... at some point even MY survival instincts kick in.

I'll gladly sign!

Yes, but that Camaro has potential to handle speed no problem. I had a 69 307 to 120 and werent scart, damn cop ! I also had 75 4cyl 710 Datsun to 120 and werent scart, but quiet surprised. as far as hitting the windshield, thats exactly what the LSS does somewhere around 112 or 115  and it comes quick and you wouldnt even guess you were going that fast. Im so lucky my tires did not blow and send shreds through the firewall and rip my chest out :P but that damn lump on my forehead hurt !
1998 Intrigue without Autobahn package: 108  It was doing like 3500 revs at that speed too.

I thought autobahn package took care of that issue ? Only on Aurora ?

On the Classic Aurora, the Autobahn package gives it a taller final drive ratio which enables a top-end of like 130mph give or take instead of the limited 110 on a stock Aurora. It was only a $395 option, too. I wish the original owners would've gotten that...and not driven on gravel roads so much...
I think that we have a civil suit comming. Ocn goes off road due to a governor cutting fuel off. Sues GM for $80 million.
On most GM models with a programer you can easily take off the speed limiter. the max i hit in the caprice was 130 (i was useing a hand held GPS to find the top speed). I might of been able to go faster. The 572 project . . . . . . . . . . . . . wait for it . . . . It hit 160 on a back road in OHIO for like 5 minutes. really I I got it up to 180 then i slowed down I think a Sharted when I did that. My aunts Vette 140. In Canada i think thats like 230 KPH A ADMIM you arnt cops or somthing and give the police our IP and turn us in are you??????
How about that Hockey fight in Cremazie's Avatar there... :metal:

And that's when the fists started flying...

Most likely. :AH-HA_wink:
I don't hit the governor in my car...it is usually at 155, but I have Dinan engine software which removes it so my car gets up into the mid 160's, maybe 170...though after 155 I really have no idea how fast I am going...my speedo doesn't go any higher...
Damn you, Nick... Why do you have to have a Bimmer?? :P I've only gone 100 before... How sad is that???
The fastest I have ever gone is 175 km/h in the Trans Sport (!!!) The Sunfire, Lumina and Cobalt were/are all limited at about 172.
i have never hit the governor on a vehicle, but similar to nick i have reached 155mph in a mercedes SLK 230 with the top down...that was fun. i still had room to move on the speedometer and the tachometer, but had to slow down due to the sharp turn up a head. however i sign the petition black and blue in PA

Stupid STS fuel cutoff.

Consider it signed! -Panther in Massachusetts.

Too bad there's no way for me to confirm the exact speed I've gottten the Camaro up to.... I mean the Speedometer only goes to 120. :( I have surpassed 150 though I believe. When you travel a mile in like 23 sec. you know the car is flying. I have not even documented 120 since I have never even gone that fast with another passanger and you NEED both hands on the steering wheel at anything over 80.

Well, Sixty8... atleast when you take a pic of your gauges at night without a flash, it shows up... Goddamn Pontiac red... Not bright enough for my camera. Jeesh... and everybody complains about it being the opposite?!?!? To those I ask: What are you smoking?

The fastest I've ever been was 135 in my GTI 1.8t, and it felt wonderfully stable even as it was clawing for more speed. The Benz E320 could not shake me. That was fun. :)
