So he says they didn't go far enough but doesn't offer any insight into what they should do. What does he want ?Close 15-20-25 plants? Chop Buick and Pontiac? like that will save them.

"The leadership of the UAW is clearly delusional" and some other good quotes targeted at the management and such. my only fear here is DeL is advocating a Nissan style turnaround. NO, we don't want to be Nissan, putting out sloppy product. he did admit GM's product coming out is first rate, so that's good.

And I don't agree with him about too many divisions...and yes GM has an old school corporate structure, but it's not the amount of divisions that was the problem....just too much duplication of models.

This move appears to peg GM's share of the market at a much more realistic 25 percent, which is light years removed from the fog of intransigence that they were operating under before. But it is probably still too optimistic.

Where will it stop? 20...15...10...5?

Is it "too optimistic" for GM to sell any cars?

Other than the fact that it smacks of the prevailing unprofessional, "attack dog" tone and attitude that seem to reside with a few of GM PR's operatives at this point in time

IMO, there should be MORE of this "attack dog" attitude with GM PR.

You know, originally DeLorenzo agreed that GM should not elimnate a division. I wonder what or who changed his mind.

It's rapidly becoming apparent that the very future of General Motors will be determined over the next 12 months.

IMO, it has already been determined. We're just waiting for the inertia to stop and the death march to begin.

It's clear that under Rick Wagoner, GM will continue to manage the downward spiral, hoping against hope that their stellar future product lineup (which for the most part is first rate, by the way) will buy them enough time and eventually generate enough momentum to reverse the continuing slide of their market share.

That's a lot to hope for.

Ok, so now all of the sudden, even first rate product can't reverse GM's fate? Basically, GM is going to die regardless and it's only a matter of time?

If that's the case, then what's the point?

Anyone remember when 'market share' wasn't the primary focus of every other discussion even remotely concerning automobiles?
I hate what the investor market has turned so many other markets into.
