May 31, 200916 yr So as you guys saw, I've been trying to round up what's left of my old models, with the goal of trying to fix them and make them better than they were. This is something I've wanted to do for a while, and started with one of them, but lost some of the parts and haven't really progressed much. Since my car is at the shop and the Prizm is all clean, I've been pretty bored, so yesterday I decided to tackle one of my other old B-17's, this one a B-17F by Revell. I actually have two of these and parts of a third, all of them broken, but I figured maybe I could make one good one out of two. Here's the results so far:
May 31, 200916 yr WOW, BIG THUMBS UP! I honestly am surprised, you really have a talent for taking a mess and turning it around. Way to go DF, you really got my respect as I honestly would have tossed them in the trash and went and bought a new kit. Just proves why we are all here cause what is junk to one person is a treasure waiting to be restored to another. We all love our cars, hobbies and women or men. All very good projects!

I'm surprised how it;s come out so far too...what a difference. I saw one of these kits at a hobby store for $30.00!
May 31, 200916 yr Thanks! I'm surprised how it;s come out so far too...what a difference. I saw one of these kits at a hobby store for $30.00! That is just Stupid! $30 dollars for about 1 dollar of plastic. They better include all the paint, decals, little people etc for that crazy price. I remember paying 99 cents for a model kit growing up. Oops, I just dated myself.
May 31, 200916 yr "We CAN rebuild her, and she'll be better than before! The Bionic B-17!" Whoa, I think I just dated myself, too. It came out nice, DF.

June 1, 200916 yr Author whoa, looks excellent!! I once did an Avro Lancaster, painted it by hand.. It turned out well but it was from new.. I spay painted mine...partly because I'm lazy but mainly because you just can't get that smooth finish with a brush (well maybe you can but I can't, ). I did use a brush to paint the details like the turbo superchargers. I'm certainly better at it than i used to be.
June 4, 200916 yr Looks good, DF! Chris oh trust me, I cant make a smooth surface with a brush.. the airbrush is something I was always too lazy to hook up..
