And the people who saved the world from Hitler's tyranny dwindle day by day... who will pick up their baton and run?
... today would be a good day to buy an old WW2 M1 carbine or rifle... hmm..............

i doubt there's ever a bad day to buy one... that's in good working order. :D

auto ordanance makes a sweet repro for $700

working in the ER and Hospital in general i meet vets all the time. i am always sure to thank them for their service and sacrifices.

just this week i met a man who was in WW2 in the army and was a prison guard for NAZI pow's in Germany. he hurt his feet and was subsequently sent back to the states, to watch over the NAZI pow's here in the states. he remarked on how compliant they were and how easy they were amazed by our country's separation from the war-torn countries they were used to seeing. he only had 2 escape, they walked off the prison and headed down the road hitch hiking. an old couple picked them up and took them to the police department when they couldnt speak english.

on a sadder note just this wednesday australia lost their oldest person at 110 yrs old. he also happened to be their last WWI vet. holy crap.

We've lost a lot of interesting vets. I used to live in a very diverse section of Chicago. Lot of poorer Jewish people lived there, and several Holocost survivors.

We forget exactly what a big deal WWII was.
