November 28, 200520 yr Buick folk call that the 'Star Wars' air cleaner. I'm not sure exactly when & what models wore it, but it's tight to '67 in origin. '66-67 Rivs are simply breathtaking designs.
November 29, 200520 yr I always like this guys 67 Riviera GS, even with the hood scoop. He has a 70 Stage 1 underneath of his starwars air cleaner. this was years ago now, hes probably busy with his life at this time. http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/Speedway/8870/
November 29, 200520 yr I read somewhere where the RWD Riv and FWD Toronado actually shared some structure around this time... looking at the details of the greenhouse... the windshield shape, the A-pillar, it looks identical... can someone tell me if I read wrong? Thanks for the compliment, Sixty8! Edited November 29, 200520 yr by ocnblu
November 29, 200520 yr Author Funny you say that buddy: Last night me and Ross were hanging out and I showed him all the ads you sent me, we both admired that ad, which led to a discussion (again) about my plans to buy a '59 Buick and his plans ot buy a '71/'72 Boat Tail Riv. That discussion led to the Starwars air cleaner and next thig you know in punched in a few letters into Google and I found this photo. The ad shows a gorgeous '65 Riviera Gran Sport floating in white space with a sophisticated girl in a fur coat. The first line of copy reads: Drive a Riviera home tonight. Who cares if it people think you're younger, richer and more romantic than you really are? Edited November 29, 200520 yr by Sixty8panther
November 29, 200520 yr I read somewhere where the RWD Riv and FWD Toronado actually shared some structure around this time... looking at the details of the greenhouse... the windshield shape, the A-pillar, it looks identical... can someone tell me if I read wrong? The A-pillar & windshield I do believe are shared with the Toro, and they supposedly both are the same bodies (E??), but they share nothing else visual. Perhaps the firewall/cowl area, but the different frames are going to dictate unique floorpans- another likely shared area. These are some of the most different "same" bodies ever....
